I’m evidently the oddball Olympus DSLR user on this board. I’ve been using the E-510 for a few years and just moved up to the E-30.
I looked hard at the D60 and knew I was past that stage in skill level and want more options. As far as video goes I have sold all of my video gear because I like photos and was never really happy with video quality I am a bit of a perfectionist with video. Now I know what I want(D90) but can any one point me to a good deal on one with 2 lenses. I looked on ebay but they give you a lot of shit half already comes with the camera and the lenses are marginal. Most important besides your everyday lens is a telephoto with I-S ability .
Adorama has the D90 as a kit with pretty much any lenses you want.
its all preference…play with both…see what feels better in your hand…idk where you got the notion canon was better than nikon and its a better “name”…i’d say theyre both on par with eachother.
truth
It was a name brand burned into my skull over the years Canon was the brand to have but after some more research I am favoring the Nikon or sony
I see no real cons of the sony, Id have the cannon of the sony for sure. But the nikon of both. Sony makes some great stuff but I have never been too impressed with there SLR’s, plus the fact that the sony sensors are in the nikons makes it the best of both worlds.
I would never buy sony anything let alone camera.
OK well I went out and was ready for the purchase and stopped and thought to my self is this type of camera going to fit my life style the way I carry cameras with the baby in tow and will the wife ever learn how to use it and I have decided no . I am either going with the Nikon P90 or the Cannon Power Shot SX10 IS. I tried both of them out and even though the Nikon felt more sturdy and had a better LCD screen the Power Shot had better zoom and also allows for filters and wide angle lenses to be added on. Chime in if anyone has a diffrent idea on this matter.
Thanks again
So you were debating between Ferrari and Porsche and ended up with a Honda? You said the D60 was “below your skill level” then decided to switch to point and shoots?
I know its the wife and the money she freaked when she saw how much the d90 was and put me on budget so I am really just upgrading my point and shoot that I left in Vietnam for her family but feel lesser of a man for not getting what I need. But she did just buy me a new truck this weekend so I guess I cant have everything.
^ I’d go with a D40 kit over the P90. D40 kits keep popping up in some great sales right now. $350 at Staples on 5/5 according to slickdeals.net.
thanks
Suck it up and go Canon 50D. Destroys the XSi and Nikon D90.
Oh, and Canon’s high end lenses (L glass stuff) are typically less expensive than Nikon’s equivalent.
D90 to Point and Shoot? WTF
Who was talking about going from SLR down to a point and shoot?
the guy spending tons of money of money on cars, who just realized he is broke
LOL not broke we are having to save up some extra money so we can bring her mother from Vietnam to live with us and we are in the middle of an adoption process. So money if I wanted to not make it an issue but with so much coming to light I see it better to help those who are in need then spend money on a high end camera. I can allways stay where I am at and still take great pictures and upgrade again in a year.
Again thanks for the help and will keep this thread in mind when all is set and I have helped those who are in need.
^ That’s cool.

It’s a refurb, but with Nikon quality it wouldn’t really concern me.
thanks again sorry if I got a bit defensive.
