it’s a canon powershot S3 IS. it seems like a decent camera and i’ve used cameras like it before. but i kinda wanted to get into photography a bit more to play around with it. plus i’ll be in hawaii next semester so i want to have a shitload of good shots to bring back.
If you are still in the $400 range, the camera that you selected will do, but you will find out after a few months maybe weeks that the point and shoot is limited, yes it has manual controls, but it doesn’t beat the DSLRs. Trust me, after some time you WILL WANT a zoom lens, macro lens, low light lens, etc.
So, spend a bit extra money now, and get the XT or XTi both are highly recommended, but the XTi is better.
www.dpreview.com find the XT, XTi, S3 IS, etc… read the reviews, look at the samples and what the camera is capable of, read the pros/cons.

yeah my price range is def only around $400. so i guess it’ll have to do. $1000 on a camera right now would kill me. at least this could be something to get more used to different things with. and learning how everything works on this alot more and messing with it will only help later on right?
