Im thinking of jumping ship to Fios since supposedly its in my area. Comcast keeps sneakiing in random new charges here and there. My dads pissed off Fios isnt avl in his area yet too(hes been getting more charges then me bc he has more sevices). Not that he needs it now that I am not living ther eanymore but i really dont download that much, usualy its gaming.

comcast doesnt have a 4mbit service, they have 6 and 16mbit services
the 6mbit service has powerboost which does what you say for the first 10 MB of files
yes, the computer can affect it
and verizon DSL is horrible, i had it for 2 years and i think i got a boner the day my contract was up so i could get rid of it

I did this test from my work Laptop. This is the same machine with 2 different connections. I tried my personal laptop, desktop & now my work laptop & the best I got was below.
Verizon DSL still sucks ass…
This was from my Verizon Wireless card (almost 3 times faster)…
I am going to try to upgrade my DSL to Verizon’s ‘Turbo’ package. It states up to 7.1 Mbps on their website vs. the 1 Mbps that I have now. Anyone have any input on this? Does anyone have the Turbo package? I cannot get Fios at my address (according to their site), so DSL is my only answer. I refuse to goto Comcast, because I have DirecTv & I like it.
Any thoughts?
Yeah 1M DSL sucks (and I work for Verizon lol). Customers seem to be happy with the 7.1 speed but I’ve been in the fios dept for almost 4 months so I don’t talk to many copper customers anymore.

it really sucks… I want faster service but dont want comcast and do not want fios.
I seen on verizon’s website that I can get a fast package DSL. But when I called they said I can only get fios… WTF?
Our laptop has a hard time connecting sometimes and the only way to get it to connect sometimes is to turn the router off and back on then the laptop connects just fine. Using an old old westell 327W that verizon gave us when we got DSL. Could that be a problem?
My dad went out and got a new linksys router… watched him try to plug the phone cord into the ethernet port and just laughed… then told him that the linksys was just a “router” and he needed a router that has a dsl modem, router, and wireless. he was pretty upset 
If someone that works from verizon is on here PM me and see if you could get me a faster DSL service and I might need a new router too. heard verizon is using the westell 6500 now for its customers

this fast compared to the dish system i use to have!!! it seriously seems quicker than what it tested at.
I had called up verizon to ask about the plans and he said that Im on a 1.5MB per sec plan. but Im only seeing half of what im suppose to be getting so I got a problem somewhere. He had me update the firmware on my router and it fried lol… now Im without internet and a router. their sending me a new router ( westell 7500) which is a huge upgrade from my westell 327W for free now.
So for the time being Im just useing my playstation on wifi off of my neighbor’s wireless Fios haha… Only getting 35% and its super fast compared to my DSL.
Im downloading at 1456kbps and uploading at 1196 at only 35% connected to a neighbors Fios wirelessly thru the PS3

I just think its funny how im getting faster service thru wifi on the PS3 from a house 30 feet away at only 35% strength. I’ll keep you updated on how it works when I get it
