:frowning:

yea i read that, sux i feel bad for the family

that sucks…

That sucks. I kinda figured that would be the case though. He said he would walk for 5 hours and come back if he didn’t find anything. It was much longer than 5 hours.

I’ve actually watched his MP3 reviews on Cnet.com

bummer

as hard as it probably is, most stories like this it always turns out that the people who stayed put get rescued alive and the one who goes off to find help usually dies. though im not sure i could sit by and not try to go get some help for my family in a situation like that.

:frowning:

I’m sad for the kids. Never leave your car ever!!

give his death a CNET rating of 3 out of 10.

The Good: We all learned what not to do when you get stranded.

The Bad: Kids growing up without a dad

The Bottom Line: I’m not going to pretend for a minute that this guy’s life is anymore important that anyone elses. Just because he gets to leg hump apple for making a new ipod with 10 extra gigs on a review site doesn’t make hims special. He did something stupid and his family is going to suffer because of it.

That sucks.

Man, that royally sucks. :frowning:

I was just reading the details and I can’t say I wouldn’t have tried to hike out.

We’re not talking about a couple of hours, or even days. He left the car to look for help after 8 days of no one coming for them. That’s a long time to sitting there thinking about your family starving/freezing to death. Why he decided to stop hiking down the road and head into a ravine we’ll probably never know.

Sad but he did what he felt needed to be done. 8 days.

The fact that a CNET editor didn’t have a GPS astounds me

or a cell phone?

Actually I thought I read/herd that they had a cell phone with GPS and that helped lead them to the car? Not to mention the area they were in was terrible for cell service.

trying to get help for his family was stupid?

Me and my buddy said the exact same thing yesterday.

You would think he would have been better prepared.

I was reading that there is no cell coverage in that area.

Not exactly a place where i’d take the family on vacation, but thats just me.

Driving on a closed road in a saab in the middle of the wilderness is stupid. Him going out to look for help was only mildly stupid but he is the one that should have gone out to get help cause he put them in danger’s way to begin with.

The dude took a wrong turn and then a snow storm hit. Out there after the snow you have no clue where the road is. Im sure you never took a wrong turn in your whole life. And ya, its stupid of him to try and get help after they had been sitting in their car for 8days :bloated: Im sure you would have just sat there and watched your wife and 2 kids starve and freeze to death in front of you.
