Well duh, look at who the majority of their viewers are.
Someone needs to remind the anti-nuke freaks that 4 nuclear reactors got hit with a 9.0 earthquake, then a giant tsunami, and still haven’t emitted enough radiation to warrant so much as extra paperwork with the government. Their spent fuel storage is whats causing all the problems now.
I don’t get it. Fossil fuels guarantee constant pollution. Nukes risk pollution if something goes horribly wrong. Yet people rage against nukes in the name of the environment?
They prefer the slow and painful method.
Everyone is concered because once you dump sea water on the reactors, they are toast. If you watch the video of them flying over the site, you can see the reactors exposed to the air. That means the expended fuel rods are no longer under water, thus releasing the spent gas into the air. The dumping of water from the air was completley useless so they brought in ground units to spray the reactors from the ground.
What worries me is that their government isn’t going to tell anybody what the real levels of radiation are in the area and how much is spreading. To follow that up, would our government do the same to us?
I think the anti-nuke people are more worried about radiation effects on the human body… I don’t disagree with you though, I am all for nuclear power.
I’m all for the use of nuclear power as well. Someone already said it in this thread, but I’m surprised how calm the people are over there. I think they are now finally starting to flee Tokyo which is about 4 hours from the site of the worst radiation levels.
Just thank God George Bush is no longer President. Do you know how many more times we would have had to hear “nucular” by now?
Rob, your vernacular is a bit off but I don’t have time to correct it.
If they’re worried about the negative effects on the body, all they need to do is look at what happened after Chernobyl.
[sarcasm]OMG all those people in Greece, Austria and even the U.K. must be mutants by now![/sarcasm]
Also people forget about the positive effects of radiation on the body and environment. Just search Google. This was something that came up quick: http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/ecology/positive-effects-of-nuclear-radiation/1066
People often forget that humans are exposed levels of radiation often higher than the majority of people in Japan… by the sun, lol. Enjoy the beach…
lol, it’s been 3 years Joe. Time to let go.
You can’t talk to me like that.
2 years and 2 months. And NUCULAR still brings back all kinds of horrible memories.
Seeing is believing and I will believe nothing until I see it. Some people are chicken little and some are like “there is nothing to see here”. It is a waste of time taking sides imho because even “scientists” and “experts” are told what to say by someone else.
I can see something bad happening in China that’s NOT caused by a natural disaster. Like China buying a few of the Westinghouse units, reverse engineering them, and building their own like they do with automobiles. That’s where the disaster then ensues.
China already has 6 but I don’t know what gen / design they are. They did put on hold the other 27 they’re currently building… errr… copying since this event.
Dash cam vid of a guy driving along the coast when the wave knocks his car off the road.
At least once a week I say I am going to get a cam in my car because of the stuff I see but that was crazy.
F me.
My eyes literally bugged out watching that.
The end of it is nuts… the car begins to float away. That is madness.
