Japanese car suppliers

I’ve looked through

http://www.j-specimports.ca/

www.importconcern.ca

and www.japaneseimports.ca

And it seems Import concerns seems to be the cheapest, any idea why?

Plus it’s in Calgary, so less travel at the very least.

Also the prices seem fairly decent, but what could be the hidden costs? Don’t these cars come certified?

www.gtrcanada.com
that’s your best bet for finding info about importing anything in general.

IC’s supplier (used to have the link but I don’t any more) specializes in “accident repair” cars. So that may be a reason why.

It’s definately hit and miss though most of the time… there will be people who have had GREAT experiences with a company, while there are some who have had horrible experiences with the same company.

As for hidden costs… most of the importing sites cars are not sold certified and/or emissions tested because they dont know what province they are going to so there is no real point (each province is different)… also PST still has to be paid when you register. Some places DO sell the car fully cert + e-tested… however they are usually local shops - A place like IC probably wont sell the car cert+etested because they have no way of getting that stuff done.

heres import concern’s forum http://forums.780tuners.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=47
they seem to have good customer revies if you look through the threads, i was thinking about importing next year as well and IC seems to be the best choice
and japanese imports has a GTR listed as RWD… that gives me confidence
theres also http://www.jns-imports.com/

here are some other places you might want to check out if you are planning on purchasing GT-R’s or whatever JDM RHD

http://www.terra2imports.ca/

http://cannonball-r.com/nissan.html

although scimotors are little bit more expensive than other places
just because they alreadyhave the cars in stock in vancouver…
terra2 is ran by the ppl of northwestnissans.com so they are reputable
cannonball-r is ran by japanese dudes in vancouver and my friend dealt with them first hand and are really really good honest typical japanese ppl and they are very reasonable

i’ve heard and read bad things about cannonball-R of late.

Terra2 has all the same listings as J-spec but has higher prices…perhaps they are including other costs in their listings.

accident repair vehicles are not always that bad, heck, how many of us have fixed our own cars after an accident.

its safe to assume the worst but if you can save $10,000 because the car is an accident repair and there was no frame damage then what does it matter?

body panels are a sinch to replace and there is no mechanical problem that cant be solved with $10k.

Yeah but you have to remember that you are purchasing these things sight unseen… and relying on someones opinion (who may not even be a mechanic) of the cars condition… and if shit hits the fan you have no rights because you bought the car as is. There are no guarantees that the repairs were performed well, there are no guarantees that there are no major mechanical problems… there are no guarantees at all.

I would rather pay an extra 5 grand and not have to deal with shit down the road. Generally what I have seen is “you get what you pay for”… if you are buying a $12,000 GTR… have fun.

Good luck getting a GT-R fender at Nissan down the street or a Soarer windshield at your local Apple Auto Glass.

Exactly… For example, A GTR windshield costs around $1200 to your door.
