Jeep Suspension

Guys,

I have a guy at work that is looking to get some replacement suspension for his '94 wrangler.

what would you suggest for a slight, if any, lift (1" to 3" at most)…?

he’s looking for a solid OEM replacement but is willing to step it up a bit…

any good sites or suggestions? he’s looking to keep the $$ low…he’s not a car guy.

Thanks

A spring over would probably be too much lift for him, and open him up to some other geometry issues he doesn’t want to deal with.

You can get some stock YJ packs, and just add in the largest leaf pack, or use the main leaf after you cut off the eyes. I did that in the rear of my XJ, got it a little above stock ride height, and totally eradicated the “dragging ass” look of most Jeep Cherokees.

I like using a used pack out of a stock set because it’s already sagged a bit. Some of the aftermarket add-a-leaf jobs sag in a hurry after installation, and few of them match the factory spring rates correctly, resulting in a little harsher ride. Since it’s stock on top of stock, they are a great match.

I didn’t even need new u-bolts or spring clamps on my jeep. Everything fit around the extra pack.

Good luck.

2.5" from 4wd hardware
best kit for the money, good ride quality, can fit 31"'s, no t-case drop, pinion angle dosent change enough to cause problems

You could combine a 1" body lift with the 2.5" suspension kit and get very good clearance for very little money and headache. The 1" body lift is not terribly hard to install and usually requires little to no modification of stuff like transfer case shift levers, etc. A couple of hours extra for a little more clearance is beneficial! Great part is they could be done two separate weekends.

sweet… i’ll check out 4wd.com

also, this guy is so far from a car guy that he didn’t know if his jeep had leafsprings or what they were… and trust me, i am NOT offering any sort of hands-on help (lol, i’m not a dick, but he was just asking me for informatoin more so than installation)… i’m going to chekc out those sites and try to figure out what is going to be the most ‘user friendly’ setup. beat90, you are 100% correct about the issues… he wants none… moreso… he’s going to let his 18yo son drive it… so we dont’ want any kids flipping jeeps.

he claims to have a mechanic that will do the work wtihout an issue, but the mechanic didn’t know what to suggest for him to buy… so i don’t know whats the deal with that…

good info… thanks
