I’ve tuned Jeff’s car before, but this time the setup was a bit more serious. He had us make custom intercooler piping, modify the intake, make a recirculation setup for his Synapse valve, add a solenoid to dump boost if the meth kit failed and more. You can see the piping we made here:
We thought his stock clutch would slip before the car made this much power, but the car only has 11,000 miles on it so it held up just fine. Instead, the car made a lot of power and I stopped at just 22 psi.
This graph shows the 22 psi pump and meth tune, 18 psi pump gas only tune, and the highest stock STI dyno we’ve recorded here. That’s a 2011 STI. As you can see, even a strong stock STI makes similar low end power so this setup offers stock-like response around 2000 RPM and then takes off from there.
To be clear this isn’t a setup I’d recommend as long term reliable on a stock engine. I discussed this with Jeff and I can’t say how long the stock engine is going to put up with this, but the car ran great on the dyno and on the test drive Jeff and I took together.
