Giant Eagle is putting a new spin on its Fuel Perks program. In Ohio, the grocery giant is offering grocery savings to people who fill up at its Get-Go stations.Shoppers earn a 1 percent grocery discount for every 10 gallons of gas.At this time, there is no word on whether the business will bring the program to the Pittsburgh area.
I don’t see how it could be bad. Sounds like it’s in addition to the fuel savings from buying groceries instead of a replacement program. (?) I wonder if there will be a limit on the amount of groceries you can buy with the discount, just like the gas has a limit on the number of gallons that the discount applies to.
^^ Agreed I would think there would be a limit…you figure the average markup at a grocery store is roughly 25%…so I would think there would be some kind of limit. Then for some sale items they actually lose money on.
Because that is what it “typically” is…while working for Shop N Save I saw financial sheets that showed mark up percentages on products. I mean there are proucts that are more or less than 25% but if you looked at the bulk of the items it was a 25% markup
i would have thought more of a markup. my mom works at a jewlery store and their markup is in the 300-500% range.
i think that would be awesome deal for someone that commutes alot. i wish i still worked at AAA and i would basically eat for free. i easily put in 300 gallons a week
