jetta exhaust

he’s got a basically stock ka, and runs a 3"…drrdadrr

that sounds like a pretty good idea but i really like the way the maxpsi sounds when i looked it up so im going to have to choose between the two. :headbang thanks for the ideas.

:wtf

isnt she a beaut, Mark?

Wow. That is some fucking carnage unlike any I have seen.

That has nothing to do with running a large exhaust…it was welded into that monstrosity.

i hope he polished that piece of art.

:headbang :headbang :headbang

I say put some sidepipes on it. :lmao

Even on a 1.8t a 3" turboback is way overkill. The stock turbo will not really benefit from a monster 3" setup because it can’t run crazy boost numbers. IIRC European Performance Labs recommends no bigger than a 2.5" on the stock turbo.

i agree

get a 5inch like a dump truck

I have had 3 different setups on my car. Half these people dont have any hands on knowledge with 1.8t vw’s. The 1.8t is a very responsive motor, as to equiptment changes. There is what I felt with my 3 different setups.

Stock turbo, running 14psi Ebay 3" downpipe no cat, to stock exhaust: Little deeper tone. Slight spool difference, slight top end pull. Bottom end didnt change at all.

Stock turbo, 3" downpipe no cat, Supersprint 2.25" cat back, no resonator and dual tips. no boost setting changes however I not spiked to 16psi and held 14 psi longer. Sound was very nice, not too loud, actually not much louder than stock, not dump truck deep, not ricey, no popping,… just a bit nicer sound than stock. I liked it. Spool was quick, bottom end was not really changed, but the top end was better. Highway pulls were alot different.

Added APR 93OCT tune to the above. bottom end was a lot better, top end was a tad better, boost would hit 21psi and hold 17 or so, 15-16 at redline. Sound was a bit louder but not much different.

Added a FMIC to the above. Exhaust note was noticeably deeper. bottom end was slightly less, spool was a the same but lost 1-2psi total through out the range. Top end was a little better. I tuned on top of that to make the most of the FMIC, but it doesnt have much to do with the exhaust.

K04-022 swap with 3" downpipe no cat, magnaflow center in center out, dumped under the car. Very solid mounting, which makes the in car noise much much more. Exhaust tone is, well Loud! You can hear the turbo spool in the exhaust! Bottom end is good, top end is great. Idle around 800 rpms and it resonates in the cab a lot… 1000rpm and it is slient in the cab and stock sounding out side. Very throaty sound, sounds alot like a VR6 with nice exhaust. Decel pops a little, shoots flames once and a while. Shakes shit in the house when I warm it up in the morning. You really have to hear it, I cant explain in words really.

Same as above, but added a cat to pass emissions. Gained a bit of bottom end. VERY noticeable. Lost 3 psi up top. Slightly quieter tone. still pops, and shoots flames.

PM me if you want and maybe we can meet up and you can hear it. All the exhausts on you tube sound the same… take those videos for a grain of salt. Shit I even have a video up there and it sounds totally different then real life.
