my stock turbo experience was a 100$ 3inch eBay motorsports downpipe with my techtonics tuning 2.5 inch exhaust. my car was quiet then.
new setup with the GT3071R is a 3inch catted vband downpipe, with the same TT 2.5inch exhaust. il sacrifice a little power for noise reduction. i probably should do a 3inch all the way, but i dont care, if i want un restricted exhaust ill pop the vband on the cat and run the downpipe open
ok well thats fine if thats what u read but its on my car and with the 2" i lost power from the 3". i run 21 psi on my 1.8t i think thats high what do u guys run ? at the track runing my 3"to 2" i kept runing 14.5 seconds . i changed it to 3" all the way back and i ran 13.9 seconds every run (all the same day)
this is what i was hinting at, but you’d have called me a noob who doesnt know anything and we’d have had about 3 pages of others joining the cause to “limit his posts” or “bad him” and the like. the APR guys said that 2.5 is PLENTY. shit, they have GTI’s with oem exhausts putting down 450, so im not just talking out of my ass, as most of you just assume.
its been proven time and time again in the mk4vw world… a 3inch makes more power, plain and simple. but it also creates alot more noise. my car is not a good comparison factor since its not a stock turbo or engine. but a 3inch turbo back, even on a stock turbo is making power. the ko3 is such a choked up turbo already, so anything you can do to releive the turbo of the back pressure is helping it.
my car right now would benefit from a 3inch, but i dont want the noise.
i’m just gonna lay low for a year or so and just throw a set of injectors and coilovers on the blue rocket and maybe a set of rims… and be done with it for a while.
