What I do is a specialty, the closest company that does what I do is up in Albany. Then the rest are all out of state.
Also there is no guarantee of 40 hours.
I can schedule an interview anytime. The company already had my resume reviewed it and I know the offer in hand for the position, but why waste their time having them travel from Philly if im not serious about the position.
The first opportunity to move out of NYS I’d take it. That’s just me though.
I’ve worked with several PMs and a few that we’re in the same boat you’re in now. A few of them moved around WNY and then some did exactly what you’re thinking and moved back. Got to go where the money is.
So you’re afraid of taking on contract work because there’s only one company in the area you are dead set on living in that can employ you? I’d take the higher paying job and use the shorter hours to develop more marketable skills. Career management man. What if your company shuts down, downsizes you, or moves in 2 years?
