Was that today’s race? It was still on TV about an hour agi, I must have missed the crash?

Wow, just saw the crash on the “Dave Despain coffee talk hour”.

I’m not going to look for a youtube link on this comp,…

but in no way should a chassis split like that, and the fact that all he had was a couple broken legs is pure luck on his side.

The part of the car that struck K.B. did not contain Force, he is tumbling on viewer’s right. This video did not emphasize that fact.

it was very odd to watch. Definitely looks like when Bernstein crossed the center line at about the 1100 ft. area, it threw some timing light reflector shrapnel under Force’s RR tire, causing it to come apart pretty violently. The odd part was that the chassis came apart when he threw the chutes, and not when he crashed into Kenny’s car. Definitely a very odd set of circumstances, and it will be interesting to see the forensic chassis evidence.

oh, and here’s the vid:

Force - Bernstein crash

I was watching this on tv lsat night. that guy is crazy. I hope he recovers fast.

Its crazy the speed of these cars, he blows a tire and rips the rear end off and still crosses the line at 315mph.

I heard a broken anke, broken forearm broken hand and fingers and some good size bruises.

Final word on the injuries: Broken left ankle and severely dislocated wrist.

Still will be interesting to determine why the chassis split like that.

While I agree that a car should come apart to a certain degree upon impact, this separation happened long before any external impact.

Although…I wonder if they’re using a slip-tube chassis, which may fare slightly worse than a rigid chassis in an incident such as this.
