Saw this live, it was pretty crazy. His engine, tire and suspension parts flew into the crowd injuring at least 6 people.

Word on the newswire is that Cuomo is already calling a special session to begin drafting up the NASCARSafeAct to prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening in NY. By morning, all NASCAR drivers will most likely be felons, at least in NY.

Wow. Looks like from that phone video that the tire & misc. parts went through where the camera man was positioned in a area of the catch fence that wasn’t fully covered? And then there was a tire sitting next to him. Crazy stuff.
Really makes you wonder how nobody was killed. I saw a picture of the kid who got hit with the tire being taken out on a stretcher and he was really beat up. His arm, leg and head all had bandages wrapped around.
Just heard on the news that there are no life threatening injuries, so that’s good. The guy who was hit by the tire said “Damn, I hope I don’t miss the race tomorrow” while he was bleeding, lol. Another lady who broke her leg said she’d definitely be at the race today.
NASCAR is giving all those injured really good VIP seats for today’s race :tup:

i read that at least 2 people were listed as critical and 2 were on trauma alert, whatever that means.
but this was in Canadian media channels who have no stake in NASCAR ratings so probably more reliable 
Espn said 28 injured but no life threading injuries. I love how no one watches NASCAR untill something like this happens .
