well i beleive it is your choice reguardless as you dont have to go to the prefered Insurance shop because i just had my accident clean up in dec and i got told that (i dont want to say it is a written Law) i coud take it wherever i so wanted as it was my car being worked on but you might want to look into that…should be in your insurance policy so i would definately phone them about that…

I had my 200SX fixed at Champagne and they did a awesome job on a black car.
and we had our X-Trail at Broadmore (thats who Sherwood Nissan and Honda contract there cars to for repairs and stuff and again awesome repair)
It doesn’t matter what your insurance co. has on the list, it is ultimately your choice. They just have a “preferred” list. You can demand it goes to a place of your choosing, no matter what they say. I know this because I have had 4 friends who are insurance adjusters.

this is true, i worked for 2 years in a collision shop.
they will prolly pull out and putty your quarter, re-skin or replace your rear door, blend or blow in your bumper as well as blend your front door. I highly doubt that you will get a new quarter though.

Ya, cuz when I got into my previous accidents, my insurance co. wanted to send my car to Herbers or some other shit shop, I told them I wanted Doug’s Place, they sent it to Doug’s Place. And before I was looking for quotes my friends told me I can send it to who ever I want, I just have to request it to the adjuster.
I highly recommend Jim Young Collision.
They do work for Weber Motors pre-sale (cars they take in on trade that need some work) and lots of other high end cars (and everday cars too). For decades the have done cars for Oilers and Eskimos players (not sure why those guys need autobody work so much but whatever).
I took the GTR there when the bastards broke into my garage and then screwed up the paint in various areas. The results were fantastic!

you saw my car after Dougs fixed it up. flawless! i was told the same BS with the preferred shops. i plain out told them im taking it where i want to and thats it. id take it to Dougs or Jim youngs. both places i have heard good things about, and experienced from Dougs.
As for fucking over insurance… well since it wasnt a rear end, its harder to get whiplash. but you can tell dougs to mark up the price a bit and then just get them to paint whatever else you want. i never did this, but i was told some places would do that for you. they dont care, as long as they are making more money right!

Nope would never ask them to do it. But on a shitty note my insurance company won’t pay what Doug’s place wants which is shitty. My insurance guy figures that the $2700 quote he did is what we should go by. Doug’s quote was $5700. Funny thing is Cougar wanted $5300. So why is my insurance guy so far off? I don’t want my quarter panel covered in bondo.
tell him to fuck off! you can take the car anywhere you want. when the appraiser came to look at your car, they should ask you where do you want to take it? you tell them dougs or where ever you want then he send them the appraisal and they give the insurance company the quote.
the reason your 2700$ quote is so low, is because its on the insurance company’s preferred list. why are they preferred you ask… because they are cheap!!! the insurance company will say we will only guarantee the quality of work from one of our preferred body shops. if you take it anywhere else then its up to you to deal with any flaws you may encounter.
dont be nice to them, because they will try to fuck you over any way possible. i was actually yelling at the lady that was dealing with me because she was telling me i was not going to get a rental and bla bla bla. i told her fine! you can pay 200$/day for a cab instead of 20$ a day for a rental. in the end i got a rental till the day my car was done. over 3 MONTHS!!!
i also got an 04 bumper from dougs, and 04 tail lights since they had to replace them all anyways. pretty good place, and remember you pay for what you get.
your insurance should fight for you not back down. what kinda of service is that? you insurance company is not paying the bill, his is.
Well we don’t know that as yet. I guess my agent hasn’t heard from the other insurance company. So know one has taken fault as yet.

I know an excelent bodyshop in Edmonton top 3 In my opinion not cheap tho I made the other guy insurance pay like 16k $ + rental for 2 months.
