They’ll all get released anyways without charges god dammit
If they crossed state lines to do it though…
I’m not sure, but I did extensive research just by reading the title of one article
Holy fucking stupid. We’re doomed.
"Black communities are living in persistent fear of being killed by state authorities like police, immigration agents or even white vigilantes who are emboldened by state actors. According to the Urban Institute, in 1977, state and local governments spent $60 billion on police and corrections. In 2017, they spent $194 billion. A 220 percent increase. Despite continued profiling, harassment, terror and killing of Black communities, local and federal decision-makers continue to invest in the police, which leaves Black people vulnerable and our communities no safer.
Where could that money go? It could go towards building healthy communities, to the health of our elders and children, to neighborhood infrastructure, to education, to childcare, to support a vibrant Black future. The possibilities are endless. "
$1 in 1977 is worth $4 in 2017. So spending on police has gone down over this period when adjusted for inflation. They should have spent $240 billion in 2017. This is also before population increase, more population means even more money should have been spent.
Yeah, I noticed the big push for cutting police funding on social media this morning. LA of all places has agreed to major cuts. Fucking idiots.
I love how they think that $194 Billion saved by de-funding all police will somehow help healthcare for all. Thats a $3 Trillion dollar industry. Kaleida, a drop in the bucket compared nationally, had expenditures of 1.4$B in 2018. WTF
Just when “city living” was starting to become popular for middle and upper middle class families they’re going to do everything they can to send them running back to the suburbs.
All you can do is let things happen and eventually when people see it doesn’t work it will correct itself. No one is going to stop these changes in liberal cities.
They’re going to fund, build etc and then everything will most likely go to shit, then we’ll try something else.
edit - can’t wait for election day it’s gonna be history in the making leading up to voting day
We nearly got a place in the Marin building downtown this past fall and tried buying a house on Norwood in the Elmwood village a few years back. Thank god were still way the hell out in Clarence.
I grew up in the city, east side until high school and then ghost town. First thing I did when I turned 18 was moved the hell out. One of the best decisions of my life.
I live on william and union, as soon as the city moves passed the thruway it’s time for me to move. I’m gonna miss paying 7k in taxes on a 1200 sq ft home.
I lived in Akron for 10 years and moved out to Kenmore. Ended up buying Nest cameras the same week the bid was accepted. I’ve had a fair amount of activity in my area since moving here. One guy was causing nightly problems for our village. Probably arrested 5 times by now. They were posting the guys face and name on social media and matching him with camera feed, yet he was out doing it the next day.
We deal with people trying to open car doors kind of regularly. It’s sad. As for the neighborhood itself, everyone is awesome and super friendly. Just border the edge of Buffalo and a fair amount of section living.
Jesus, 7k for 1200? I’m at 4400 for 2100sqft in Wheatfield.
Same here in Cheektowaga with cars…what’s more amazing is people continue to leave them unlocked and then cry about their car being broken into. I can’t even call that a break in, nothing was broken, someone merely helped themselves to your belongings because you didn’t value them enough to lock them up.
'Cmon Buffalo
Ya that’s pretty sickening. I mean why push him? At that point grab him and arrest him, without splitting his head wide open.
I’m not sure I have an issue with any of that. The girl(or guy? hard to tell) who took the worst of it was yanking on one of the cops.
I love that most videos start as the police are starting to push back. Obviously not all situations fall under this but what we see are one sided stories being told all over. What lead up to the police acting in the manor they did in the video we see a protester posting?
That should make the weekend riots interesting.
Fucking wegmans is going to be all out of popcorn.
