KA24DE + 93'-01' Altima?

So I was told that the Altima from 93’ to 01’ has the KA24DE in it - my question is it compatible in s13’s and s14’s regarding mounting and transmission compatibility?

One is FWD, other is rear so I will take a stab and say no. Don’t trust me though.

Yeah I see what you’re saying - I should’ve been more clear about the tranny part of it - i.e. can a 5 spd from and s13 marry the KA24DE from an Altima? And since the Altima is FWD the mounting HAS to be different - but maybe still mountable with what…welding, aftermarket mounts? hmmm

i think they can but the rad hoses and vacum lines are different so it would be a bitch/not worth it

Correct the outlet for the rad is at the back of the engine aswell as the distributor.

a 98’ frontier is a KA24DE as well - any thought’s since it’s RWD

if it’s not an aluminum block there would be no gain in any effort and, even if any of these newer ka’s are aluminum what the point it’s a ka,all that extra work for what, ka my ass more like gay-a lol

It doesn’t fit.

No.

Why bother?

If you need a tranny, just find an someone with an s-chassis that is willing to part it out.

The only other Nissan models that can mate with a KA, CA, RB, SR, VQ, would be the 6spd tranny from a 300zx. (IIRC)

no. The distributor and timing system is completely different. coolant system is mapped differently too.

Not to be a dick or anything… but why? Are people just asking questions for the sake of asking questions? Really… why wouldn’t you just pick up a KA tranny/engine off a 240?

Why would you waste your time with that nonsense?

Because most people are selling engines up around the 200k mark, and since these engines are notorious for headgaskets blowing around that range, I don’t really want to waste money on a 200k engine, and since the altima I saw at a wreckers in Toronto only had 62000km on it, I asked a friend who is a parts manager at Nissan to reference the engine and cross-reference the fitment. He tells me its a KA24DE, but the cross-reference for fitment with a 5 spd 240 tranny was unavailable, and moreover the cross-reference on mounting brackets was unavailable but that’s just an easy assumption anyway. To me a KA24DE is a KA24DE is a KA24DE - asking questions so that I can hopefully receive factual information in return would be great, but to hear that a guy pulled an Altima or Frontier KA and stuck it in his 240 would be a bonus.

Dude … its a KA.

They are MENT to be beaten on. It’s a fricken truck motor lol.

Look at it this way, if the average lifespan of say a stock Honda Civic D16 (which ever version you may) was about 500+km’s. Would you not just get one with 200k?

They are soo popular and ever soo cheap. So why would it matter?

Back to the KA. If the headgasket blows, replace it right when it blows. Simple.

And if you have plan’s to go faster, maybe RB, SR, CA, then save up while your driving the motor, and wait for it to blow before you swap it. AND if you plan on goin KA-T, then get all the turbo bits, and ANOTHER KA, build it WHILE the current KA is in your chassis, then when it blows, swap the fresh KA with turbo bits in.

DONE and DONE

The point that needs to be made is that no matter how good a deal you MAY come by, there are always better ones that you’ll see in the future. This is a fact, not advice.

Diddint mean to sound like an ass btw.:o
