SO yeah i ran into a snag with my KB install. Long story short i have to send the blower back to KB to have 2 holes re-tapped for a IAT sensor out back. I cant do this myself because the plenum is in the way of the holes so KB has to pull off the blower fro mthe base plate in order to get at the holes flat and tap the holes so i can bolt down this IAT sensor. So ive been trying to get through to customer service. Im starting to think maybe i should just drive down to their HQ in cali. :smash2:
Multiple emails, multiple phone calls (funny how the line is ALWAYS busy, no matter what time i have called in the past week) and no response what so ever.
They sure were quick to answer the phone when i spent 4k of my hard earned money on their products though.
sigh I guess I will try again tomorrow after the holiday.
So yeah KB = great product (though of course i get the one blower where they forgot to tap the holes :bloated: ), shit customer service/support.
/rant
Now i remember why i was gonna pay someone to put all this shit on for me, not worth the aggrevation.
doesnt the in-plenum cooler mean that the ecu would want to know actualy intake charge temp ?
in-MAF IAT sensors are great, for NA cars, but once the car is boosted, the actual charge temp changes, and the ecu needs to know whatthe engine is actualy inhaling
damn kb’s :(. seems this is the general consensus for everyone’s experience with KB’s customer service department, lol. While having a great product, their customer service sucks the big one. hopefully you can get all this sorted out and the car back together mike. I’d definately try calling locally to see if anyone can help you out here, but if not, you just have to keep on trying to get through to them .
the cobra crew is waiting for ya! i only have a few more things to put on and i’m ready to rock n roll
Yeah thanks guys I will try the local guys and see if they can get me in touch with them hopefuly.
Oh and yeah there is IAT1 by the MAF, IAT2 is right in the rear of the base of the blower. It’s used to program certain parameters into the tune in case the inlet temps get too high. Not sure if any other mod motors have it, i think its just an 03-04 cobra thing.
welp. Gonna give Oroc a stab at it first @ JanCen, if he cant get at it then its gonna get sent out. Good thing its only Feb or else i would be tweekin
kb has always been known for horrible service as far as that goes, if it weren’t for the 03up cobras they might have gone under, though there is a HUUUGE market for the lysolm(??) screw charger in the boat market
A couple of years ago KB stopped reselling through retailers, except if it was a shop doing the install. So, you only get them direct, or as part of an installation at a dealer. When Kennedy’s used to resell them, they provided a lot of “free” tech support, even to people who who had bought their kits direct from KB or elsewhere. They got a lot of calls, because of the KB tech support being so poor. When KB stopped supplying dealers for resale, Kennedy’s told them that they couldn’t provide any tech support in the future (except for their own customers). KB’s attitude was essentially - “tough shit for the customer”.
An aftermarket parts maker with shitty customer service??
Who ever heard of such a thing??
/sarcasm
I’ve heard thats been their MO for years. I don’t know how big an operation they have but its not like you are dealing with Dell and their workforce. Its probably only a handful of people handling questions and tech support.
Heh, wouldnt oyu know it, just got an email back from KB. Looks like an easier fix then i anticipated. Def something Oroc can do for me. So yeah nevermind KB is super (not really)
