hey all,
hopefully we’ll grow these early discussions into a half dozen and then many more who will collaborate on how we can develop a locally managed forum that is more representative of our local values.
I’d like to take a moment to lay out some of the features of the network and open up a discussion on issues related more towards the technical aspects.
SON240sx is the most active 240sx forum in Canada with more than 1200 active users before the merging of forums. NYspeed is the most active NY based forum and is most heavily represented by people in the Buffalo / WNY area, so they’re all quite close to us.
There are other forum properties that are not nearly as active; namely pittspeed, rhddriven, canada nissan etc. Canada nissan is what this forum is subbed into.
politisuck is where we move all the politcal discussions to keep the forums focused on automotive.
there are a number of ‘network’ sections like the drift mania forum and the network chat / network classifieds at the bottom of the main forum tree. they are viewable across all forum properties to all users.
this forum is a sub forum of one of the forums therefore we cannot have those network forums at the bottom unless we move this forum out into its on solitary forum.
once you sign up one user account on any forum it is useable on all forums. you’ll have to sign in to each forum and click ‘remember me’, otherwise you’ll have to re sign in everytime you visit another forum
to be clearer about some of the key benefits of working a G/Z forum into this network are as follows:
-
there are already dozens of users on my350 and g driver that have active accounts on this network because they used to be 240sx owners.
-
the network classifieds or nissan classifieds are quite active and g35 /350z parts will segway quite naturally into these sections. using international classifieds is disadvantageous for Canadians because American’s largely do not want to deal with international sales.
-
this network will therefore immediate create the largest market for nissan parts in the region. We already have a very busy network wheel and tire classifieds with probably the best selection of wheels and tires in the area since the 240sx guys use similar wheels as the G/Z
-
there are no incremental costs or management procedures requried to operate a G/Z forum which makes the management of it more sustainable as compared to solitary forums that will come and go without sustained traffic or revenue. That would be the reason why so many attempts have been made to do this in the past and failed. This is a key advantage of this forum… it already has 3000 active users and will therefore always be busy.

we run and have run a number of very interesting and unique events including special operations at the toronto Indy, Watkins Glen Indy, Carlisle, Winged Warriors and at all race tracks in the area over the years. We’ve scaled back recently but would love to get back into it if we had more users who would participate.
i’ll add to this post as things corss my mind.
appreciate your feedback and questions.
