Well today I finally decided to take the plunge and start building a Koi Pond in the back yard, got it all layed out and looking how i wanted it, then started going to town with a shovel, and a whole lot of water! Its about 21’ long, and 11’ wide at its widest point and will have varying depth levels throughout the pond with the shallow end being 10-12", going to 22", then the deep end being about 3’ deep. I got the shallow end pretty much done today and started the transition to the 22" around the island, still alot of work to do though!! Doing the quick math the pond came out to over 2000G! Id love to, but I want something I dont have to take out when winter comes and its not going to be a heated setup… If you know of any fish other than koi that can go in there lemme know!

Haha thanks dude, and yeah it was more work than I thought and still alot to go! My fucking lower back is on fire right now lmao. Im almost thinking of stocking it with crappie/bluegill/smallmouth so that way I can throw a line out in my back yard and catch shit!
Thats a myth! If it is moving water(not stagnant) there is no surface tension for bugs to collect on the top of the water and sit around. Plus the fish eat insects so thats a win. Im going to have a waterfall on the back of it and possibly a fountain coming off the island to keep the water movin good.
if we had a mobile rig i’d come over and spray that shit silly. but honestly call a trucking company and see if they have any old tarps for dumptrucks, i used that and it works great.
