Kuntryquesttsi's 58 Pan Head build..

Well I have been waiting 4 years to start this and the time has come.
A little history -

When my dad was a kid, he grew up on the farm I live on now. His father would never let him have a bike. As soon as he turned 18 he went and bought this bike.
Fast forward to 2006.
I’m just out to high school. I ride the Pan now and then no place far. Its getting hard to start. hummmmm.
My dad keeps blowing primary belts. So we get it on the stand and can not get the primary to line up.
Due to the bike being a hard tail. One of us tweaked the frame.
My dad goes and buys a 2006 soft tail deluxe.

Well we stripped the bike to the frame and took it to get fixed.
Then a “friend” was going to paint the bike this took 2 years.
While we waited to get the frame done, we had the motor redone by the same guy that has done it every time. Dan Thayer.
2 Years pass, we get the frame, tank, fender back. It looks like a 2 year old did it with a fizz can.
Forget it, took it back to the guy that fixed the frame, paid him up front told us it would be done in april, it was done in december…
But it came out amazing this time. totally worth the wait.
Dec 14 2009 - My dad signs the bike over to me for my birthday.

Didn’t expect it.
I started to put it together last night, should be interesting I forgot how it goes back together.

Missing some cups for the steering head bearings to fit into or I would have mounted the front end. all for now more this weekend.

Cool!

I love clean home built bikes!

Sorry for the bad pictures all I have is my 5.1 megapixel cell phone.

This needs to be in your living room.
I carried my dad’s knuckle down the stairs from the bedroom to the dining room. Way better to build it in the house

Looks nice, needs bigger primary.

It needs to be someplace cooler, that wood stove gets rockin and it get to 120 in there.

Well thats pretty cool

hellllllllo unreliability!

j/k… cool project… wish i had the time to do this.

Its not a artic cat …

Nice

Damn, thats a stove.

Though you’re only “kind of” kidding, these things can be pretty reliable with good maintenance.

Like carrying a drip pan and an extra quart of oil anywhere you go. lol.

lol

Two main things cause that, People that don’t change there oil get slight sludge build up and oil seeps down out of the oil bag and when the bike is started it will puke oil out of the crank breather.

Or like on this bike, I have a chain oiler that oil’s the chain as the oil pump runs.

There is #3 just leaky connections and gaskets lol

I used to tell people it was for smokier burnouts.

What are you doing for wheels? Bars? Seat?
Curious to see what direction you’re taking it.
