Has anyone had laser eye corrective surgery recently? If so, any opinions or reccomendations?
I serisouly want to do it becuase I hate my glasses and I need new ones and I’m pretty sure my insurance will cover some of it.

I did and I love it. Here are some good threads about it
Someone i know had it done years ago and is now sensitive to sun light. I’ve been thinking about getting it done too, but my buddy was before they used lasers i believe.
best money u will ever spend… my eyes were terrible, i couldnt even see without contacts or glasses. i now have 20/20 in both eyes for the past two years.
since my eyes were so bad IIRC it was $1400/eye
My dad has LASIK when it first came out maybe 7 years ago and has had 0 problems so far.
My uncle just had his done last year and is going in for his 3rd surgery to fix his problems.
Only complaint is eventually you might need to wear reading glasses and have trouble reading in low light. My dad has trouble reading the menu in a low light resturaunt
My sister had it done 5 years ago and LOVES it. She couldn’t see shit, had to wear contacts and glasses, now she only has to wear glasses to read. I don’t recall her saying that she had any sensitivity to sunlight since having it done, but if she does she is screwed now as she is in Africa for 2+ years.
I know of at least four people who have had it done. Zero complaints.
As soon as I get married, I’m getting it done. My fiancee’s insurance covers everything except the initial eye exam.
had mine done about 4 years ago. Love it. Best $2600 i have ever spent as a non-hooker related expense.
Food for thought.
My buddy just had what he refers to as “implanted contacts”. Safer than LASIK and 100% reversible (or upgradable, or repeatable down the line).
I know LASIK is pretty common now, but I would look in to this if I were in the market.
Eventually might need to wear reading glasses? What if you don’t need reading glasses now? A side effect could be needing some in the future?
That was everything I was told was in the future esp in low light.
My big thing holding me back was would I need reading glasses to see my computer or read manuals and stuff in network closets. They told me that years down the road, you might develop the need for them but some people don’t.
I personally have worn contacts since I was like 14 and now it doesn’t phase me to take them in and out every day so I am in no rush to get this. Also, knock on wood I never have had any surgery, broken bone, etc or any stay in the hospital so I am really against voluntary surgery.
had mine done 5 years ago…best 3k ever spent.
I was literally blind without glasses and now my vision is perfect.
I decided on Atwal, they convinced me because they said with their new laser, they nighttime sensitvity is no longer a problem, and most people don’t get dry eye anymore.
So therefore, Im IN! I can’t wait, i wish they could do it today but if you where contacts you have to wait at least a week.
i would seriously consider it, but your vision needs to be stable.
apparently mine is getting slightly better every few months.
honestly, the other thing that always bugged me is they quote 20/20 vision as a benchmark for most. i have sharper than 20/20 now with corrective lenses. going to 20/20 would give me less clarity and no one can guarantee your results.
lol. anyway, let me know when you’re getting it done and your experience please.
My buddy has 20/12 after the implanted contacts
whats the deal with implanted contacts vs lasik? never heard of it, is it new?
they cut your eye lense and put a contact under neath it and stitch it back up… i would go laser, but it still kinda scares me.
I just watched the youtube video of someone getting that procedure done… All I can say is wow that made my stomach turn.
That said I have severe astigmatism, the implanted contact might be an option for me.
For the rest of you to watch.
I went to the open house last night to watch the procedure, very quick and nothing like contact implanation. I don’t think I would do that either.
