ok, so aside from just messing with a computer with an LCD display, I really have no idea what I’m looking at as far as specs and shit goes.
I’m getting a smoking deal on 2 LCDs but it says that the native resolution is only 1024x768
I know that it will go to 1280x1024… but at what cost? I’ve read that the picture doesnt look as nice, but how can it really look worse than a smaller resolution?
remember, I’m a crt user so this is all new to me… also, is 18ms refresh rate bad? I’ve read that faster speeds will also leave ghosting, as will slower speeds… can someone shed some light on this for me?
I mean, will it be trying to display 2X the amount of pixels into an area meant for 1 or something? Will the picture really look that bad?
I am currently using a 17" CRT @ 1024x768 because if I set the resolution any higher, it creates a wierd surging on the screen (hard to discribe) that hurts my eyes like whoah after an hour.
honeslty, though, not sure if I can pass this up… 2 of them brand new for cheeper than one costs
LCD’s are nothing like CRT’s. You can’t really pick the resolution. They only look good when you run them at their native resolution.
So, if 1024/768 isn’t enough for you, no matter how cheap, the LCD’s you’re looking at are basically useless (and probably why they’re so cheap in the first place).
I’ve changed it from 60hz-85hz with no real noticible gains… probably why
jay, yeah… 1024x768 is fine for me at the moment… considering I’ll be running a dual setup, but maybe I should just wait. Sucks that the nice 20"+ monitors are so expensive though
did you buy the mass monitors for 125? If so, i am the one that bought the whole dual setup. my resolution right now is 1280/1024. image quality is fine. one thing is, i need a better graphics card because vid. playback sucks!
