Lets get a track day organized(road course)

I would love to see you out there tearing it up out there. ^

I’d like to go too but that’s a bad weekend for me :frowning:

Finally got ahold of someone there. I guess we just show up LOL, no prepay. So as long as my schedule is clear still, im in. who else plans on going?

Ordered my brake pads this morning. Going to stop by Innovative some time this week and pick up the red version of ATE Super Blue to flush the old blue out this weekend.

You guys will have a great time at Nelson, well worth the trip. Here is one lap of my in car footage

your car makes that track look like a sunday drive. The bump steer in my car makes that bumpy track exhausting. I have a in car video on my facebook but I don’t know how to link a video on to here. I just posted it to my wall (on facebook) if someone knows how to link it here.

it never even crossed my mind. what is the price of the event?

what i typed up for wny-scca:

Who: you, the driver, no prior track experience necessary
What: driving on a 2.0 mile road course, fast, in your own car*
When: Sept. 10th & 11th
Where: 3 hours away in Ohio
Why: because driving fast on a track is fun

*Car needs no special safety equipment, just factory seat belts, Snell SA or M helmet. Nelson is very easy on brakes but still I do recommend upgrading to front track pads (Hawk Blue, Carbotech XP10, etc.) and high temp fluid (ATE superblue, Motul RBF600). Other than that if your car is auto-X worthy, it probably is track worthy.
General Information
We, here at Nelson, want your FunDays experience to be as pleasant as possible and we take every precaution to ensure that. We ask that all FunDays participants adhere to the following general rules in addition to our FunDays driving rules.

ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED.
Absolutely no aggression/road rage is tolerated. One warning is given then you will be asked to leave the property.
Track time will be between 20-25 minutes per session. This is for your safety.
A helmet is required. (Snell approved motorcycle is OK)
All open cars and convertibles must have a roll bar, reinforced factory rollover protection; similar to a Porsche Boxter or BMW M3.
Proper attire is required. This is defined as sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes and long pants. NO shorts, tank or halter- tops, sandals or open-toed shoes are allowed; shoulders, legs and feet must be covered. Again, this is for your safety.
We do allow a passenger, over the age of 18 and helmeted, in the car with you.
There is a Drivers Meeting prior to the beginning of the FunDay. This is important, so please attend.
For your safety, it is important to listen and comply with track personnel.
Please check your car thoroughly prior to going on the track or have a mechanic do so prior to coming to the track. Check brakes, brake line, hoses, cooling system, tires, power steering system etc. Under track conditions, belts and hoses do break, so do not take a chance on missing the day with a broken part.
All participants must be over 18 yrs old, carry a valid driver’s license, and have current auto insurance.
We reserve the right to refuse service.

I could not have asked for a better response. Thanks!

Just want to get a roll call for who is going.

somedude Taurus SHO
Jayson Ford Mustang (Friend of mine from Ohio that organize the last nelson event I posted about)

I would really like to go… im not sure how i can get the Jetta there… or i could bring the lifted car lol

Got all the bugs worked out of my video setup for the track day. Harry’s Lap Timer for iPhone has Nelson already loaded so it should give me consistent start/stop for each lap automatically.

The weather forecast keeps getting worse. Early in the week it was sunny. Then partly cloudy. Then 30% chance of showers. Now showers in the morning with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Anyone interested in going Saturday the 16th if I get up tomorrow and the weather looks like crap?

hopefully the weather holds out.

Justin is bringing his 2.7T A6 out
eric is bringing his vette out too. possibly weather pending. I think his fat tires would make it really interesting for him.

Hope you guys have a good time!

I pussied out based on the forecast and the fact that there is another funday next weekend.

Bump… those of you who went… How was it?

had one session with a half wet track but other than that it was dry. There was one big crash and one other guy that slid off into the tire wall. I gave the point by to a firebird that I had passed a few laps ago. He caught up to me really fast so he must have been warming up when I passed him. he passed me on the straight going into turn one and went right off the track at 1 hit a hump in the grass and caught 3-4 feet of air (I could see the bottom of his car so maybe more) landed hard then slid some more and plowed the tire wall went WAY up into the air again and came down on top of the wall. I don’t know if he had total brake failure or what because his entry speed was ambitious to say the least. Drive was fine but his car had some body damage. I imagine frame/suspension damage as well because I don’t think they were built with flying in mind. Other than those 2 issues I logged I think 140miles on course and rode with a bunch of people so I was happy with the event. I will probably go back next month with autointerest if funds allow.

As usual I surprised the hell out of a few people on course “A taurus should not handle that well” was mentioned by at least 2 passengers.

Glad no one was hurt!

yeah it sucks that he crashed but at least I got to see it first hand. Really sucks I was not running video at the time.

I couldn’t make it, something about 350Z pistons, and no floor pan…

But, if you had fun during the track day;
try it with 90 cars of traffic, for 25 hours 25 minutes and 25 seconds, October 9th & 10th.
We still have two spots open:

I’ve done that with maybe 6" of air, running drys in the rain. Got towed off and drag a tire wall tire all the way back to the pits stuck underneath my front cross member.
