If you’re only driving it 3k a year, does reliability really matter?
+1. It’s not an 80’s Ferrari where you might end up needing to work on it every time you drive it. It’s a modern BMW. Driving it 3k a year you’ll probably never have an issue with it.
Well, I’d prefer to not have a car sitting in my garage that the 3 months I can drive, I can’t. It’s not even a matter of having to fix it, it’s the headache associated with not having a reliable car. Bottom line, I don’t want to walk past my $60,000 SUV to break down on my way to work in my 10 year old car.
I don’t know what would be unreliable about it? BMW in recent year really only had issues with the N54 platform.
Isn’t the Z4M a straight six?
NA BMWs are super reliable. IMO I would take the S2k, but my screen name is also 93dx–hatch so I may be biased.
If I didn’t need a back seat I would have an S2000 instead of my 997
I think working at a dealership and being around new cars all the time has dulled your perspective of reliability
Its the same motor as an M3. That was the point of the thread, ha. Tell me I’m being stupid for thinking that the BMW is unreliable. Vanos system issues etc
Holy shit they really are the new NYSpeed Civics.
Thats exactly the problem, lol.
I haven’t owned a car with more than 3,000 miles on it in 6 years lol
I had a z4m coupe. Get the z4m. It’s basically a e46m3 but 500lbs lighter, mostly in the rear which makes for a fun car to drive. Mods are out there and very affordable as it has the s54. It’s the better car in every way. Pretty comfy, and quick. And it’s not a Honda. If you have any specific questions shoot me a text beck. I loved mine, only ditched it because I got offered a high price.
and ps I’m not just being a BMW loser, I’ve driven both and it’s an easy call in my opinion
I vote z4m
I really liked the s54 drivetrain in my old e46
ive only driven an s2k twice and both times walked away feeling unimpressed
however I will say the dash on the z4 chassis is a bit fugly
Hairdressers cars
Drive both and choose the car that you have more fun in.
Who the hell cares what the “typical driver” is like? Man this place has become soft.
Yeah, you’re probably right. I should probably look into buying a mile’d out luxury car so people can perceive me as more manly.
Z4M, with only 3K a year it shouldn’t give you any problems.
I assume those are CSL’s. Love it.
Actually just found out they are APEX ARC wheels.
This depends on what it’s being used for. If you’re trying to do any competitive driving at all in it (track days, auto-x, etc) I’d get a super depreciated Elise as those have fallen into the low-mid $20k’s or the S2000. If you’re trying to just have a summer cruiser, fuck it, get the thing you want most because who cares about performance spec.
My boss has the M Roadster, he loves it, I vote BMW.
Mazda owners
