All that being said the OP was posting about the high rate of crime directly around the south campus and the police pulling people over.
My reply of “Don’t live in the city” is pretty sound advice.
They don’t have those issues around north campus oddly enough.
Where I disagree is how much you genearlize the city by making that statement. Don’t live in U Heights…maybe.

Honestly If I made more money I’d move into North Buffalo.

Cool and for you personally it has benefits
Does that have relevance to the OPs issues? lol
If I posted a thread saying I hate soccer moms and you said move to the city I wouldn’t be personally offended
The fact he lives near a shitty part of the city is directly related to his issues sorry the whole city isn’t this amazing place.
I thought this was a Buffalo vs. everything thread again.
Things I have taken from this thread:
Op received a ticket rightfully for an expired registration
JayS wants to measure everyones manhood
LZ hates Buffalo
Cougarspeed loves Buffalo
Progrocker enjoys Seinfeld
Edit…I misread the thread and dun goofed.
I can’t believe it hasn’t been asked yet.
Was it Fat Cop?
maybe in a bad mood coz paula moved out?
This, they just got you with a plate reader.

Do UB cops really have ALPR systems? I’ve never noticed a UB car with the readers before but I don’t cruise through UB much.
I know Amherst has them on several of their patrol cars now.

Most didn’t have radar detectors for the longest time I would be surprised
I wouldn’t see why not. For all intents and purposes they’re cops.

For the longest time they didn’t use radar detectors most of the tickets they wrote were for visually judged speed.
I would imagine traffic violations get processed by town courts so UB wouldn’t directly make money

How would that hold up in court though? How can anyone accurately judge speed by just look at the car?

Officers are trained to judge the speed of cars…
Even if it wasn’t a plate reader, he may have just noticed that the registration was expired since they have the over-sized month/year of expiration numbers. I was pulled over for that years ago, before plate readers.
Yes it does. There’s been a number of cases about police and visual estimates of speed, and they are routinely held up in court.

Not in dispute of the matter, but to me it doesn’t seem plausible to accurately judge the speed of a vehicle, especially from a stationary position.
