working at a dealership sucks ass did it for 8 years here in buffalo and in florida… buffalo has some of the most ass backward shops and def have small time thinking …50% of car sales man are d-bags … never trust them
being a car salesman when you’re 25 is fine, you just give up free time to make more than you should without a degree.
being a salesman with a family however is a different thing. If you really want to make money you have to be around the whole time the dealership is open and sometimes stay later to close a deal,get there early to undercut the other salesman, come in on your (usually one) day off because it works for the customer, ect.
not to mention that everyone is fucking eachother, married or not. I worked at northtown toyota as a lot bitch and the only person that seemed to have a healthy marriage was one sales manager who divorced his wife and married a title and billing clerk…
I still think I would be a good car salesman but thats my last resort fall back because it absolutely consumes your life.
West Herr OP and Northtown are huge numbers wise. We are neck and neck with West Herr Williamsville and Fucillo absolutely shits themselves every month.
However… West Herr and Northtown have Taj Mahal’s and if i was going to be at a dealership during a recession…I’m glad it’s one that doesn’t have thousand’s of dollars a month in just heating bills. We take 61% of Northtown and WH Williamsville’s markets. 81% of Fucillo’s market and 90-something percent of Niagara County. I’m glad I work for the best dealership in the area, with a low overhead and a business growth of 70% in the past 2 years. For our little dealership to sell 250 cars in august was amazing. However, Toyota will eventually force us to build a larger dealership (based on numbers) and it can only help us.
When a dealership has a movie theatre and flat screens…someone’s paying for it, and it all boil’s down to the customer.
