Life without a pulse

Super creepy, but yet kind of cool. Definatly an interesting concept though from a medical standpoint.

wow that is really cool. but no measureable blood pressure… that seems kinda weird and unsafe.

cool that it works, but like the article says it would suck if he got in an accident and they went to take his pulse and couldnt find one. IF that was me, i think i would seriously get a tattoo on my chest that says “i have a mechanical heart so i do not have a pulse, do not think my heart stopped”

it seems mind-blowingly atypical and definitely weird, but since they said that a transplant wasn’t in the cards, and it works… i don’t know where you get ‘unsafe’ from. it’s certainly keeping him alive

He’ll probably go crazy.

Imagine it being late at night, in your bed. Utterly, dead quiet. Could you sleep?

would make for great pranks tho … fake your death, have people find your “body” and check your pulse … then when they go call 911 jump up, moan like a zombie and chase them away

Heartless bastard, wonder if it’s made by Rolex?

pretty cool, but i can forsee other problems if his real heart is just sitting there lifeless.

def. wierd. No real damage though, so long as the pump works there will continue to be oxygenated blood moving about.

400 patients, and he’s the ONLY one with zero contractions.

see the post above yours

what happens if the guy was working out or playing a sport. Does the mechanical heart increase blood flow?

I know he 65 but still.

viagra?

lol. thatd be a terrible joke to play on someone funny as it may be.

that’s pretty sweet. i’d play dead all the time.
