but I would argue the fact that they’re ‘great cars’ simply because there’s a fucking billion of them on the road that have survived more than 100k…yet 30% of them burn their weight in oil every year.

Singh and Bennie said it best. “IT IS A HONDA” has some merit unfortunately. It maybe fast but then again, just about every platform has proven they can be with enough money invested.
Some of the owners seem to get it though. They realize their low-end econ car isn’t a Viper or a Supercar but they got the necessary performance they wanted out of it to make them happy. They enjoy it for what it is.
With that said, some of the cars even in this area are extremely impressive with big results and not a ton of money invested.
