look for a 1 or 2 owner. id avoid anymore than that if you can. records is a plus.

check for rust on the fenders(very common)

• recent trailing arm bushings are a plus
• upper strut mounts w/bearings(front)
• brakes are always a plus.

typical wear items, but the less you have to do the better.

a 150-250k 00-03 TDI is typically in the 4-6500 range in good working order, you can find stipper model GL TDIs with no power options, no roof and hubcaps for less. but the secret is up, and people are snatching them up fast.

the one wayne got was on CL for less than 24 hours.
