There were 3 levels of brakes in '06, and the exact same 3 levels in '07.
“Base” Level. These would be on any non-Z51 and non-Z06 C6. They are identical to C5 brakes (Z06 or not, the C5 Z06s just had different pads and powder coated red calipers) in dimensions.- “Z51” Level. These would be on ONLY C6 Z51 cars. They were not optional on non-Z51s and came on EVER Z51 car. They featured a slightly larger rotor (diameter and thickness) package that was cross-drilled.- “Z06” Level. These were on each and every C6 Z06 and only on the C6 Z06. Not optional on any other C6. They are huge and pretty looking. They suck balls.
then thats where I was mislead. I never thought twice about it since mine had em, but I heard somewhere down the vine that there was a package in 06. Well you just confirmed it… it was “just something i heard” by someone who was trying to justify the “price hike”
but anyway back on topic. It’s still possible to buy an 07 C6 for under $40k
be an awesome DD for you lol. Although if our winters remain how they are out here in Pgh, be a viable option for everyone out here too, Although Pittsburgh roads just beat the shit out of cars.
Although I think the goat would make a better DD… more comfortable imo
ya, i never heard of any brake options for the 06 Z either. ive only seen the 6piston. they do look sweet. i love my c5 Z setup though (besides the squeaks).
now my question is. How will GM market the LS3 while still using the LS2 in their lineup. I have heard rumors the plant the LS2 is produced in is shutting down at the end of this year?
i guess thats the tradeoff to the way they are goin about things latley, with all the changes/introductions. i mean even the ls7. the ls7 is huge hype and everyone is on a high from how sweet the engine is and the new Z in general. and before the newness of the car is wore off, it is no longer the top notch, ‘super vette’ anymore. itll have to be the affordable supercar instead of the best vette yet. same goes with the engines. the stuff they just released not long ago is gonna have to be marketed differently, while they hype the new stuff…not thats its abad thing, i guess. its cool to see them actually puttin out high-powered cars.
i havent read anything on this, so this is a pure guess, but id say the GP/Impala get the ls2. if they do get an ls2, then i would hope that they would just eliminate the ls2 from the camaro/gto and just go with the ls3 as the v8 motor and thats it.
