Since the del sol is almost done, I am starting to get serious on looking for a SCCA car. I need your guys opinions from who have done it. I am trying to decide on FWD or RWD. I dont want to spend more then 7500 on one. Trying to find something mostly stock (unmolested). Car ideas I have are
miata
focus svt
older rx7 (89ish)
honda si or acura gsr
neon acr
what do you guys think? I will be building it for SCCA but also keeping it street legal too. Thanks for the info.

Miata all the way. If I wasn’t chin deep in the game with my honda I’d probably driving a miata.
I would also agree with 99_civic_si Miata. I’ve solo a Prelude for 6+ that had springs, shocks, LSD ect ect and it was NO WHERE near as fun as a stock Miata!
I’ve also Solo’d a Stock STi for a full season not as fun as the Miata.
Other Cars that i have driven are Mini Cooper S (open diff) stock, Scion TC not bad at all but full suspension mods.
If i were to build a Solo car it would be a Miata, no question.

Go for stock whatever or someone else’s completed (and hopefully competitive) project. You’ll save the most money that way and have the most fun vs. fixing the car every single weekend.
I would also reccommend an S5 second gen. RX7.
