Looking to buy a Digicam

What I want :

A decent amount of manual control, not DSLR, I’m ok with a little size (doesn’t have to fit in pocket, but not gigantic).

I normally would have just gone with a canon and gotten different lens attachments for it. One I’m looking at :

But I’ve been looking around and found this guy:

Now I know Kodak is pretty much on its way out - but it’s got a really nice lens. Picture quality seems pretty good from the reviews also.

Just wondering - what would you do?

since you live in the city, i’d go to one of the 500 electronics stores in Manhattan, you know the ones with the storefront displays stuffed with cellphones cameras laptops etc, they all look the exact same… they usually have most of the latest shit too, and you can bargain like a son-of-a-bitch.

if not, i’d go with that kodak… good price too

You bargain from their retardedly high price down to a normal one… yes…

lol theres some hidden deals in there occassionally…

J&R

I just bought a Canon S5 IS from Butterfly Photo for just over 300 bucks. 12x optical zoom, 8MP, full manual control if wanted, and ability to swap lenses. Amazing piece. I’m on a steep learning curve with it, but it will pay off eventually.

Downside: yes, it’s a bit chunky. Not even close to a pocket-cam

x2 for the cannon IS, going non DSLR thats one you want

x3 I have the S3, same as the S5 but lower resolution. Great camera.

Problem with the S5/S3 and the A590, is that they all run on AA’s. So this may play a factor in what you are doing.

Either way, stay away from kodak. The low price isn’t worth the lack of quality, trust me.

I’ll suggest the Sony H10. It’s Lithium Ion battery, takes good pics, doesn’t lag. (will be the same as the s5 honestly)

If you would rather have AA’s, and want to stay low on the price, get the A590. It’s an awesome camera for that price range.

nothing wrong with AA’s i got 4 2500 MAH with a 30 minute charger for under 20 bucks, and fuck sony, your paying extra for that stupid LI battery. I did alot of research between integrated battery’s and AA’s and there is basically no difference in my price range to make me go spend extra for LI’s. Shit these AAs last forever it seems.

Yeah I have 2800 MAH NiMH AAs, they charge any flash up like nothing.

then go with the A590. Some people really prefer to have the LiIon batteries. And of course they are more expensive, why wouldn’t they be?
