Lost love or just a priority shift?

eh it happens. im bored with mine too along with cars itself… which is why its for sale.

YOU’VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR 3 YEARS. :gtfo:

eh im not really slowing down that much. however i wont be modding the roush nearly as much as the spec. ill be pushing it close to the hp limit of the motor with everything im doing in the spring and im not gonna get into the whole built motor and supporting mods etc. id rather just drive the car with no headaches. not like the spec was a pita or anything but its nice to have a car just to drive and do an occasional track day. there will always be something to replace or maintain on the car but excessive moddign wont be in my near future

Now that that is out of the way…
Time to look for a bike this winter.

There should be plenty to choose from.

ive been thinking about it for a while…

i finally decided to actually post it up for sale on many places.

There’s guys who really love cars and the hobby at one end of the spectrum, and then there’s the guys who only got into it to be cool or whatever at the other end. Most people here fall somewhere in between.

Myself, I will always have something to tinker with and wrench on in the garage unless I am forced (and I mean forced) to sell it. And, even then, I would be back in the hunt for one directly after I regained my footing. Those who believe that working on cars only depreciate said car, are working on the wrong kind of cars. Since I’ve bought mine, it’s appreciated $2.5K.

When you’ve got a house, and a wife, and kids, and your boring white picket-fence, you’ll be clamoring for your car and garage-time again. It’s your time.

It’s always been, and will always continue to be, a passion for me. And I’m creeping up on 30, too.

Meh, im in the same boat…

I love my car, and have been enjoying it since ive replaced all the bushings, the response is a lot better, but on the other hand, there are just days when im kinda UGH about driving it around… the suspension is hard, the clutch is slipping… and there are a bunch of misc rattles in the interior…

Ive been flip flopping if i want to sell it and buy something stock/fun (amg benz, 335i, 996 911TT)

or just replace the clutch and SC the car, and buy a cheap daily (b5 a4) … i go back and forth almost every day, and i still have to remember to be financially responsible since i own a house now, and with teh economy tanking i need to have an emergency fund thats not tied up in my car.

Same boat/priorities. Time seems to pass by faster, and free time seems to disappear where it used to be abundant. Responsibilities change it happens, it’s a part of life.

Fuck I bought a VW as a dd… I never thought I’d see the day.

same here, after getting married, buying a house and having a baby, priorities and money shifts into different things. Everytime I want to or have the cash to work on the del sol, it doesnt happen. From paying medical bills, to buying baby products (diapers, etc) or working on the house, my time and moneys always seems to being going to something else. Everyday I always ask myself, maybe I should just sell the del sol but then I remeber how much time and money I have into it. I have thousands of dollars of parts just sitting around waiting to be used in the del sol. I guess if I dont sell out the project then I would make a time line to finish it. Thats the only way I can think of getting the funds and time for finishing it.

Do I agree?

Sure.

Am I able to be as responsible as you Josh?

Not quite yet.

I haven’t really given a shit about any of my cars for like 3 years. I sold them all last month actually (besides the touring).

got a 328i dd. figured I’d do a few things since it was new to me. Got vaders, zhp knob, zf coilovers, 18" bbs rsII’s, next up is bumpers, etc.

got me back into the car bug

so now I’m trying to find a wrecked m3 to put into my wagon. i have rejuvenated my interest in cars finally after 3-4 years of not caring

I didn’t have any time to throw at my car this summer because I was spending all my time on the track days & events.

I never plan on selling my car no matter how busy I get because I enjoy it too much. I’m content with it.

I’ve voiced my opinion over the years about the direction of this community, so I won’t get into that. But more and more people are unable to be active participants in the community due to their shifting priorities. So we (OSYN) are working on ways for those who don’t have the time to sort though forums, but who are still interested in being part of the automotive community to be able to participate though a more passive means.

One way is the newsletter / mailing list that we’ve been working on. If you want to keep up to date with what’s going on, but don’t have time to constantly watch the forums, feel free to sign up at www.OnyxSyndicate.com/lists

I’m going to keep trying to provide alternatives to those like myself that are still into cars, but may not have as much time to sort through the internet as much they used to. People who view their cars as a hobby and are still interested in them despite shifting priorities. Those who still value the diverse community and networking opportunities that come from this hobby, despite a loss in automotive focus here. And those who don’t just want to sit on the internet, but actually drive there cars and meet in real life.

for me it comes and goes in cycles…

just when I thought I was out _________

Im with the blue.

Meh… I never really modded anything that I owned… But I totally agree… I normally put 10-12k miles on the bike each year… this year I put on about 5-6 i think. kinda weak.

I remember when I bought my first bike though, You couldnt pry me off the damn thing. I miss those days.

Its like banging the same girl every day…

lol and half the guys in here are married… me included

exactly how i feel also…some mornings i wake up and wish i never got into modding cars, and other mornings i order parts…its a vicious cycle.

Lately ive just wanted to either sell the car and get a nice dd that i wont really mod, like a e46 m3 or something just nice with some luxury. Or wait till its totally paid off and keep it and mod it for a track car and have a nice DD

i have already slowed on the vette…and it doesn’t even have over 600 ponies yet…:frowning:
