So today sucked because i lost out on the opportunity for a fantastic house due to a seperate owner of a garage in back being a total pos owner. Had he have been reasonable in dealing, i could have been on my way to owning a 2 car attached garage and a giant shop at around 3,400 sq ft in the backyard sitting on 2 acres. But he wants to be a pos and rather keep racking up on his long overdue taxes then be reasonable and sell for a justifiable price.
I know the chances of coming across another property with a 2 car attached garage and some kind of big shop/garage on the property as well will be very slim. So I think now would be as good of a time as ever to start pricing out what it would cost me to build something suitable to my needs. I know the amish build nice places for cheap, but I would assume the cost would be significantly greater than say a metal garage. I need alot of space so I think the metal garage will be the only way to go. Anyone have one built or can add any input or experience on the subject? How are these in the winter time? I would want at least like a wood burner in there as well. I just wanna start the ball rolling on suggestions and trying to figure out what this kind of venture would cost me.
Where are you looking to live? I am a total city guy myself but have a serious desire to move out where I can have some space and a large garage once I am a little older.
Ideally would be Wheatfield since taxes are cheaper than here in n.ton, can find descent land, and it still be close to family for when any kids are in my future to have close by help. I’m not a city guy what so ever. I definitly don’t want a neighbor behind me, and the neighbors next door, well I don’t want someone who will be getting pissy if I’m reving a snowmobile engine or running a compressor because they are so close by.
my dad had the amish build a garage and had it delivered…its something like 12x24 or something…one car wide and 1.5cars deep. it cost around $6k. I would def. go metal building
I’m putting up a 20x40 next year, but not doing post frame.
need a 6" reinforced pad for jib cranes!
My neighbor (well, actually he lives about 1/2 mile away, but he’s the closest neighbor i have), put up a Post frame shed a few weeks back… took about a week to do from start to finish.
my friend has been talking about putting up another garage at his house. his friends are all electricians, contractors, etc. and they all owe him a favor, basically all he would be paying is cost of materials. for a 24x24 wood frame garage with concrete floor the material cost came out to $2600. not bad at all, its the labor cost that makes it expensive. get to know some contractors and see what kind of deal they can do to help build something.
House buying has been the worst experience ever. Basically looks like I lost out on the house I wanted because the sellers realtor is a total piece of shit. Never wanted to follow up with anything dealing with this property and even told us to take a hike because he has something against the realtor we are using. I am heated because I will never find a house like this again guaranteed and I truly believe he lost it for me. I’m already writing up a letter to the vice president including a copy of a very nasty email he wrote. If I’m not mistaken, isn’t there a public realtor board as well I could file a complaint with? I will not let him get away with this and want him to pay dearly. I’ll call 2 on your side to do a story on these scum bag realtors and how they can easily fuck people over. lol
I know how it feels, I was REALLY in to this one house, but then I found out a little shed/garage thing on owner behind was a few feet over the property line. VERY similar to what you’re talking about. I believe it was a 2 unit house… But I may be mistaken, It did have a large shop and garage though. The realtor was a total ass, plus it was a Cash only deal because he said no bank would give a loan with the the other owners building being over the property line.
If a seller’s realtor is blowing you or your realtor off it is most likely because he has a better deal on the table with someone else or you are lowballing. Realtors are in the business of making money. Period.
I’ve been working on the house since august when we signed the contract. Process took forever and he kept blaming it on the sellers lawyer. December he made us sign a affidavit saying we were still pursuing the house. Two weeks ago he made us sign the same contract over again. Mind you the house was still being shown online. Now last Friday he got another offer that apparently was “significantly larger” than ours. Two days later, the house is listed under contract and the posting taken down. Funny how it was never listed under contract with us. And our offer was not a lowball either. It was listed as seller will accept any offer between $xxx, xxx and $xxx, xxx. I went right in the middle.
Was the listing agent the fucking cock sucking ass licking Lorendi Home selling team or whatever the faggots are called? I hope they fall off a cliff into traffic and die a slow death on hot asphalt in direct sunlight.
The Lorendi’s are the only idiots in the area with a $X-$X range price fucking game… and that’s exactly what it is, a GD game. NEVER deal with them, EVER. If they have a house listed, forget about it.
Those are the people who came to my mind immediately- I was going to look at a house years ago until I realized the game they were playing, and I didn’t even bother. Seemed like a decent house, and was for sale for at least a year and a half I noticed the signs were finally gone.
