I have a '89 240sx with a ka24de motor in it. When I start the car it idles around 600 then quickly goes down. It will constantly do this. The only way to get the car to stay on is if I feather the gas a few times, after that it idles at about 600 still but wont go down. I really want to fix this problem but I dont know what could be the cause. I’ve already checked the MAF, and cleaned my throttle body, it didnt help. what could it be?
Maybe coolant temp sensor? That has a pretty important role on idling speeds.
my throttle body bracket is helf by zip ties, i just bought the car and it came like that, do you think that could be the problem?
that very well could be your problem, I’d also go over your vacuum lines as well
Where can i get a new bracket?
Go call up a wrecker… Halton or w/e has Mega City Auto Recycling…they have I think 2 or 3 240’s there. I don’t remmber if they are DOHC or SOHC… Go there with some tools and take it off yourself and the will probably only charge you 5-20 bucks. If you don’t have tools you can get them to take it off for you also…depending on their mood they may not charge for that. Their number isssss… http://www.megacityauto.com/ go there and get the bracket and also get the coolant temp sensor. That may be a problem also.
Dirty IACV could also be causing it.
