low seat rails for s13?

being 6’3 tall sitting in my car my knees touch the steering wheel most the time and i feel cramped even with the seat all the way back, always have to take my hat/helmet off because it touches the roof! i’m looking for a seat rail which hopefully will fix this problem and a bucket seat that is extremely low. i have looked around and found Bride or Nagisa but i’m not sure which one is lower so has anyone (sure some of you tall people out there own a s13) have the same problem tried these rails or know which one is the lowest? also im not sure if there are other methods besides a bucket seat or low seat rails that might help me out?? thanks!

for starters … a bucket with a proper low rail will always sit lower than a bottom mount reclineable seat will. A RH seat rail will sit lower than LH seat rail in a S13 due to the hump on the left side of the car.

There are some different makes of seat rails that do sit lower and from my knowledge Nagisa and Bride are the lowest but it also depends on the seat you have as well. If you have some Recaro or knockoff seat they have huge bulky padding and cause you to sit 2-3 inches higher than a Bride reclineable. I would suggest getting the lowest rail combined with a proper seat and modifying the foam near your buttocks IMO. I did it on my seat in my alto and I sit super low on bride rails and bride brix with cut foam, I look through the steering wheel like azn-mang

wicked… thanks for the feedback scott, i have ordered a nagisa rail cuz i heard they’re lower than bride? so now i just need to look for the lowest bucket seat. maybe the zeta III type L because it dips back the most and has the widest butt section.

If you get a bucket seat that has a wider butt area than most “standard” buckets you will have to modify the Nagisa rails. I have a Sparco Evo 2 and it didn’t fit since its about an inch wider than the Evo.

Just a heads up 8)

they type-L is only wider by 5mm it looks like so will that make a difference? and what do you mean by modding the rail? im also considering the sparco evo seats, i’m 185lbs so i think i only need the evo I, how are you liking the evo II?

Since the butt section is an inch wider on the Evo 2 it means that the mounting holes on the sides are also an inch farther apart. So 2 of the 4 mounting holes will line up in the car, but the other 2 will be off by about inch because of the seat width.

I don’t know if 5mm will make enough of a difference for it to not fit. I’m just having my friend weld some new tabs onto the rails so they line up to the holes in the car.

The Evo2 is a nice seat. Its huge on me, I would have got an Evo but I got a good deal on it. Other than it being too big I have no complaints. I’m only like 140 pounds though lol.

I could be wrong but I have not come across wider mounting holes on the same model of seat due to width as that would not make any sense. I have had to slot holes due to wider seats and seat belt receivers being too close to center console or door panelling.

hey check this out, never heard of this F1spec before but their seats are cheap and don’t look half bad. $250 and it comes with side mounts and dual slider set!

i’ve ordered the type 2 in FRP (Red), i called them and they said it would fit with my low rail. $250 can’t go wrong as to the bride/recaro and other leading brands this style of bucket seat is well over $600. This will fix my problem of being cramped in the cockpit so i am super happy  Now i just gotta look for some 4 or 5 point safety belts, any suggestions?

haha can u get that deal again? I’m 6’3 and Have the same height problem in my 240…

it’s not a deal they just sell it $250 (with slider) regularly. now as for 3/4/5 point harness systems where is the best place to bolt in the back and do i need to buy eyebolts?

Get a harness bar. Unless crushing your spine is your kinda thing…in that case mount straight to the floor.

do not do what is pictured above. if you do in some case roll your car and are upside down you can crush your spine. the mounting for any harness should be as close to shoulder height as possible. you can buy a bolt in shoulder harness bars or get one fabed up easily.

scary shit… i have seen so many people mounting to the floor like that, how does it crush you spine? just curious. i don’t think i will be going with the harness bar (titan) its $400. Is there an alternative besides fabbing one up?

Thats probably because in most harness manufacturers instructions it lists those points(to the rear seatbelt connections) as an option. they arent being bolted to the floor. mounting any of the points behind you directly to the floor is dangerous and could result in serious injury or fatality. just read the instructions when you purchase a quality harness and they will give you diagrams as to whats acceptable and what is not.
