Hey. I just bought an 02 Honda CBR 600 f4i and I had it lowered for me, but it is still not low enough. The shop said if they dropped it anymore then I would probably scrape the fairings. There is still a good couple inches of clearance. Is there anything else that I could do? I really need it like an inch lower.
Check the dog bones on the rear shock, they should be adjustable if they lowered it for you, drop it down one hole and slide your forks through a little more.
They don’t mean on potholes and stuff they mean that if you lean it over in a turn you’re going to scrape fairing. Are you aggressive in taking your turns or do you just ride casually? If you’re just riding it as a cruiser or commuter then lower away, but you’re not going to be able to lean it over. Is this your first bike? Maybe you should have started on something a bit lower before you jumped on this. Hondas are a very tall bike, I could only tippy toe my 600rr. I couldn’t flat foot any of my bikes until I got my zx10r and I never had a problem, you just stop at every light in first gear and have your left foot planted. Your right foot never needs to come off the foot peg. You should be able to lean the bike to the left enough to flat foot with out tipping over. Your other option would be to buy a cruiser and enjoy riding.
Hmm… I called Honda today and they mentioned lowering the front forks? I called the shop I had the link put in at and no one answered. So the stock f4i seat can be shaved?
if you lowered the rear of the bike, and didn’t drop the triple tree on the forks the front end will be sitting higher than the rear. Where are you located? i can probably take a look at it and tell you. Or just post a picture of the front forks where they go through the triple tree.
I am 5"4’, but I have short legs. My friend who is 5"2’ can plant her feet on the ground when it’s flat, and I cannot. I’m fine riding on flat roads, but when I get to a hill I am on my toes and I dropped it. I’ll take pics today when i get home from work.
The guy from the shop I took it to called me back and said he lowered the front when he put in the link. He said possibly he could soften the suspension? But I might scrape the ground… I’m not sure if I really have any other options. I’ll just look into tall shoes.
You could shave just about any seat, though it’d require dis-assembly and re-assembly of the cover . I’m not sure if it’d be enough for what appears to sound like the amount you need, but it’d be one step closer than what it is now.
