ls1 taking over (sorry i had to)

didn’t realize they were talking about a 1980 porsche engine, wtf?! OHHhhh, the lsx is lighter than an engine 20 years older than it, super duper.

prosche engine > lsx

wouldnt doubt that for a second, after seeing what they can do with a GTI at VIR

i think its pretty sick…

sorry. i had to also :lol

Your posts make me feel like standing in the middle of the Northway.

:nono Motor sits 20 degrees canted right, header between pass frame rail and right side of head. Intake manifold 22.4" runner up off left side of head and over. 951’s position the K26 down below the intake manifold, but still get feed via a crossover pipe from right side header. 8 or 16v, they’ve never been crossover

Nicole, 944’s are great cars when purchased clean and un-abused. Have a PPI done and find a good one if you’re interested. I’ve owned a few and regretted selling them. Great handling, good amount of power(for day and age). T belt and associated idlers are the biggest nemesis. All should be changed on a regular 30K mile interval, checked every 15K. Like all old german cars they tend to leak oil, just either have to get used to it or sink money into pulling the engine and resealing everything. 16V S2’s are my prime choice if searching, abeit pricey amongst p-car enthusiasts. S3’s are even more rare(944 with transplanted 968 3 liter) but holy crap what an amazing car.

Avoid 951’s unless you have a bankroll to play with. 951’s can be purchased for under $10K, but will 99% likely require at least half that again in repairs/maintenance within the first year unless you get really lucky. Most 951’s have live a run hard put away wet track lifestyle…

yeah brain fart dude, im thinking the audi 10v turbo thats counterflow, all crammed into the passenger side… the 951 motor was passenger side exhaust with the crossover pipe, with the turbo mounted under the intake manifold. which is driveside. long runner. and still a poor design.

ha beat me to it, was editing my post for clarity…yes you are now correct

yeah i know, had and error between mind and my finger tips. with all the talks of JVGs 10v turbo my mind was cluttered… ive been a big fan of 951’s since about 98-99, mind you i was about 13-14. my friend had a guards/black 86 951 back around that time… it sat for a while and his father started it, and the timing belt skipped… BOO

Oh, you mean me having to put know it all assholes in their place in other threads :idiots

I love the cars. Absolutely love them. I personally wouldn’t own a 951 myself just being a p-car mechanic and knowing what always goes into them. Personally I’d love to find another mint 88-89 8v roller with a blown engine and put a 968 3 liter and 6 speed in it. They’re an amazing car, and would make a killer daily driver/fun toy-to-work ride.

Kinda like putting a vr6/02m in an old rabbit, except that it can turn and stop good :lol

I really miss my '88 though…

no way man. 02m is overkill and mk2>mk1 ive owned a few of both and the rabbit just doesnt do it for me… and about turning and stopping. my 91 GTI with a AAA VR6 turned and stopped just fine, corrado 11inch with 9.4 solid discs in the rear, 22mm master cylinder 4w disc proportion valve. H&R suspension for a corrado SLC, it worked great together.

Engine swaps made across a manufacturer’s “family lines” are like sex change operations …

  • to begin with, they make no sense at all
  • it never ends up looking right
  • eventually, it will self destruct/fall apart
  • is a total waste of time and money
  • is unnatural in it’s very concept, as it is in reality

Boooo …

I know, just pulling your chain a little ;D

you fail. there are a couple engines that bring win no matter what they are in. the lsx and 2jz-gte are two of them.

smart man :cool

i want an lsx powered car for my next project.

next time I’ll use smaller words and and draw pictures so you don’t get so :confused.
