In an effort to save money some time ago, I decided to subscribe to most any magazine I would buy in stores at least twice a year.
Over time, I notice them getting thinner and thinner with more bullshit and less actual content. Well, today put the icing on the cake. I got my new issue of Import Tuner (Don’t judge me, it was a long time ago when I first started. Plus there’s lots of hot skanks in it.) and I shit you not, the magazine is about as thick as a nickel. 90 fucking pages. Ads EVERYWHERE. What the fuck. Needless to say, I will not be renewing this time.
Car mags have been super shitty lately, I just go to barnes and noble and flip through them for free. I can get through about 5 in an hour since there are little to no interesting articles anymore. Dsport at least tries to have some interesting tech articles and stuff but IT and the like are barely worth the trouble of flipping through.
Racecar engineering and the F1 mag from the same publisher are the only two I purchase occasionally anymore. Both have awesome tech articles that many times go way over my head but at least I learn something.
RCE is fucking awesome, sucks it’s imported and like, $12 an issue. I got a 3 month trial subscription to Racer magazine, and so far it’s really good. I’m considering getting a full length script to it.
Might have to check out Racer. Is that another import? It definitely sucks RCE is crazy expensive but at least the ad content is tolerable and the pages and format is top notch along with the writing.
I cancelled my subscription to Excellence years ago because if this, and it’s only been worse since then in the few issues I’ve read at friends houses. so many add it’s almost Dupont Registry.
Same with GRM. I spend buck on RCE and a few other engineering mags, minimal adds in those.
I had Honda Tuning, European Car, and Road&Track, but only because they were free at the time. They have since expired, and I will not be renewing for the same reasons.
I want someone to make a magazine that has nothing but street cars. Not some gay ass, huge body kit, pearl purple pearl candy tangerine dildo machine. A stock body car with rimz, drop, simple lip/lip kit, maybe fresh paint, engine mods, etc.
Plus Juan. I have never read such an informative magazine. Racer gets into some very technical stuff, but it’s explained a little better for tards like me.
Most of the magazines I read keep pushing their online articles. Its like theyre too cheap and lazy to print it so theyre just going to throw it on the internet.
