I use one when ever i replace my oil drain plug. it cant harm and the only cost a couple bucks, so why not.

It cant hurt, helps collect all my wasted piston ring matter and what not…

i have one , no need for it really . the oil filter sees oil first anyway so why bother

True, but I still have lots of metal on mine at oil change intervals… looks like anti-seize, so Im assuming its too small for the filter to pick up?

nah , its just what settles in the pan . a lot of it is just what oil will carry from cleaning the oil orfices .

I was considering getting one for the Maxima but never did. For $10, I might get this one for the M. Just gotta make sure it fits my M first.

they are worth it on differentials, but not really necessary on engines or transmissions.

more on performance oriented cars like race cars or daily as well?
