major phone problem.

OKay, I dropped my phone in a bar last night, and I guess somone called my girlfriend on it and was either having sex or playing a porno. She called me freaking out because she thought it was me.
now today, for some reason I have a country song as my ringback tone, and when people call me, some girl answers and is like, no, sorry you have the wrong number.

WTF verizon?

What does that have to do with Verizon?

well, some reason, someone else in the 716 area code has my phone number.
as in, someone calls my phone, and it gets directed to another phone, SOMETIMES.

man up change ur number

maybe the girls just fucking with you, maybe she really has your phone

Did you lose the phone entirely or do you have it physically now?

The dropping of the phone would not cause it to go to someone else’s number.
Make sure forwarding isn’t turned on, and if not call Verizon and see if it’s a routing issue on their end.

um, no

Nah, I have my phone now.

but my dad called me and he said the first two times he got some girl saying “sorry you have the wrong number”
like, she physically answeered.

then dont cry about it :tantrum:

and: by dropping it, i didn’t mean DROP it, i jsut left it there, it musta fell out of my hoodie pocket. my phone wasn’t damaged at all…but now there is two people in the 716 area code with my number… hmm

Call Verizon. They don’t actually have your number, but some of your calls are being routed to them, could be some type of switch issue.

Call em have em check everything, re-broadcast your number and see if that works.

Verizon is gonna be the one to fix it, sucks to say you have to speak to their wonder… gasp customer support arrggg.

thats why i came here first.

Two people cant have your number on CDMA phones. This isnt the old analog days where they just do some frequency tweaking. They are tied to your ESN number on your phone and is how Verizon knows which phone to ring.

Someone doesn’t have your number. If someone downloaded a ring back tone, make sure they didnt also turn on call forwarding or something on your phone. If they did, that would be the classic dumbass move since now they linked their “crime” to their own personal number.

i had my phone ESN switched once on my sprint phone… just out of nowhere i kept getting “wrong numbers”

which is odd cuz people were calling out of their phone book.

i was getting calls that were intended for somebody else (who oddly turned out to by my brothers friend from grammar school)

called sprint,a nd they found that a server error switched our ESN’s when the data was pulled from a backup…

they fixed it… problem solved

okay, called verizon. someone turned on call forwarding on my phone.
It’s all taken care of now

ive seen this before.

first idea: try turning off call forwarding. I forget what it is, i think its *72. Just on the offchance it was set up.

second. Call VZW and explain whats going on. If it sounds like you got a rookie on the other end, call back, as its not worth your time while they figure out who to call.

edit: see, i know my shit.

did you not read post #6

I called them before it was posted.

Eh, i’ve seen strange things happen with Verizon as well since I go through a lot of phones.

For example I used an XV6700 pda phone for a while and decided to stop using it. I let my friend use it as a PDA for a while come to find out for some reason my text messages were being duplicated on that phone still even though I got a new phone (I was receiving the text’s on my phone as well).
