I finally got my the reason behind my motor taking so long. no turbo, no ecu. doh! Oh well change in plans, a gt25/40r turbo, and a stand alone fuel management system will be subed in, things are looking up. yeaaah!!!
I hope everything turns out well.
woot…yeah good luck with that man
I know how that feels… been waiting 5 weeks for my car… it sat at the shop the first 2 weeks until I started bitching at them to hurry it up, and stopping in every few days to see what they’ve done… that seemed to work. Dave… need O2 sensor! haha thanks
Jeff
You’re not the first to have shitty luck with the SR motors my friend. I think I top the cake with mine though.
Seized turbo
Fried ECU, new one was fried again, then the next was for an S14, and then they were out of stock.
Rad hose filled with saw-dust
CAS broken off
Turbo hot pipe outlet cracked
clutch/flywheel done
Missing Ignitor chip
Missing Air flow sensor
I can’t even remember half of the other shit that came on it broken or missing
But good luck with it. Remember that you will be limited to low boost because of your fuel situation.
My SR story wasnt that great either.
HICAS p/s pump and my car doesnt have HICAS
Broken injector wires
Hairline crack in tranny
Broken speed sensor
Tach on gauge cluster is fried
Exhaust was for an S14
All the fun bonuses of doing a swap!
definatley wont be ready for scc
now im waiting 3 weeks for my stand alone to come from australia, but not im also contemplating doing a fuel rail and 70 pph injectors. Ill have to upgrade the head gasket, does any one have an idea how strong the stock internals are?
man the price keeps going up!
Welcome to the world of modifying cars. The prices always go up, and you’re always waiting for parts. It’s a never ending battle with the mod gods.
The internals should be good for the 400 - 450whp mark. Although this number is usually done with some good tuning and all the precautions needed to get there etc. Just make sure the engine is healthy, and you don’t cut corners. Cutting corners is cheaper, but MAY cost more in the long run when shit breaks.
Good luck.
just got the word today, no compresion, motor is junk, back to square one.
can we all learn from the ppl’s mistakes…
buy a front clip, it will save you hundreds in the end!
get a good source for a motor, dont just go with anyone… someone with a good rep.
okies…
my sr story is another sad sad tale:
It came without ecu/tranny/ignitor chip/wiring harness. I got all the parts eventually, just 6 months late - Im glad it all took place over winter. The only thing I didn’t get was the wiring harness. I had to source my own, and payed $600 for it. It was kinda funny, the ECU that origionally came with my car was for a front weel drive, non-turbo, automatic sr20de, the complete opposite of what my car is!
