just curious as to what you think about the engine/performance/maintenence etc. what are some common problems after doing the swap, and after getting the engine running decently.
everyone has one and everyone has problems
nissans = problems
cheers
the more swaps you do the less probs you generally tend to have
biggest problem; buying a motorset vs. 1/2 cut vehicle.
still thankful I bought the 1/2 cut…
i bought a motor set and never had any problems… by far the strongest running engine ive ever owned… if you do it right… you dont have problems…
GT
i had no problems using a motor set…
half cut is good if ure staying all stock…motor set it far better for most people who use the fmic etc.
SR20 > *
really it is… so much easier to get a reliable and fast SR than it is to do the same with a KA.
but it isnt cheap to make it fast.
FMIC, 3" exhuast, fuel pump, boost controller and clutch are all required to safely and reliably put u in the 13’s. this is of course on top of making sure the engine is installed properly.
and for this reason you had better have $6000 ready if you want to really enjoy an SR swap. not that you cant do it for less, but you should be prepared to surprises.
$6000 to enjoy it ? well $2400 for a motor set leaves $3600 for parts ?
For $6000 I got a SR, Bolt ons, Clutch, Chassis, Suspension and Rims
but thats me ![]()
fair enough, but of the 3 I’ve seen done from motor sets, 2 came with the WRONG ECU, 2 came with messed up throttle bodies, all 3 came without the tranny crossmember, 1 with no tranny slave, all 3 came without drive belts on the motor, accesory brackets missing or incomplete…
At the same time my BIG JAP 1/2 cut had NO ignitor but everything else, blitz tuned ECU actually intended for the 1/2 cut engine, Blitz timer…
I’m just saying a 1/2 cut avoids hassles of scrounging for obscure parts…
i spent less than the price of an sr motorset and im faster than stock sr.
where was this smack talk when I was around Jesse? hmmm? ![]()

buy a better motorset… you are not obligagted to take waht is in front of you…
GT
arent you rockin a t28 now ? plus you got a safc…
give me a safc and my stock SR will smoke you ![]()
a stock SR only costs $2400 anyways…
and jesse, you arent faster than a stock SR right now.
and you have full 3" exhuast and a few other things, SR turbo etc.
i think what bing is pointing out is the fact that in order to make an sr20det engine work really well you would have to spend around $6000 TOTAL to get it to an enjoyable point…
engine 2500
clutch 400
fmic 1000
dp 150
3 inch exhuast 700
fuel pump 100
intake 100
fuel managment 400
extras i would certainly add but you dont need.
manifold
turbo extension
injectors
boostcontroler
etc etc
you ahve to remebmer everyone enjoys a car at different points…
i personally had a retarded amount of money into my car and i still didnt REALLY like it…
some people have near stock swaps and LOVE it.
who knows personal preference when it comes down to it.
GT
when i say stock sr i mean factory stock, smic and all.
that’s pretty much what I’m running now, a stock (minus a couple small things) sr20 blacktop

or find a better supplier, eh hem… People don’t know what can be damaged when getting a motorset, I’ve seen the container loads, literally engine ontop of engine, shitt happens.
But I guess your always right…I was using it as an example 8)
yes i am.
