We had a Solo II event, our second of the year over here in Regina. I did really good. Third overall and second in my class. It was a great success. I can’t wait until June 11th for our next Solo II event. I hope I have my R’s by then(and a new clutch, mine is about to disintigrate, lol), then I can get FTD for sure, kehehehe. There were 26 vehicles out there for the event, ranging from, wrx, to silvia, to skyline, a couple pig noses, bmw, izusu, a couple rsx type s’ and some rx-7’s, oh and even a s2000 turbo. The only 2 vehicles that beat me were the wrx and my bud Morley in his early 90’s jetta 16v(that thing hauls ass pretty good). Anyways before we go home, buddy in his Skyline GTS-T agrees to a 40km-120km pull on the highway(it’s a 110km zone, so don’t go off on how I was speeding guys, it was only 10km over the limit). So we hit the highway and we slow down to 40 and he says, honk 3 times and we’ll go, so I honk, once, twice, three times, bamm we go, I shoot ahead of him by a car length right away, then shift to 3rd and shoot ahead by another half a car length, by the end of 3rd I was 1 and a half to 2 car lengths ahead, so I throw it in 5th and slow down to 110km/h. I seriously thought that a gts-t had more power than that, I’m only running a t25 at stock boost on my 175000km ka24de, lol. I guess it gave me more confidence atleast, so anyways I was riding on a cloud all day yesterday with my 3rd overall, 2nd in my class and beating a Skyline GTS-T on a 40-120km/h pull.
KA-T for teh win!
Good to hear. You got it dynoed yet?
It runs rich at idle, but fine at any percent throttle. It hits 14.7 steady when cruising and richens out when wot from 13.5-11.5 through the rpm band. But it’s pissing me off about running rich at idle. It keeps throwing a maf code, so I replaced the maf, still pulled the code. Replaced the ecu, still pulls the code. So I’m wondering if having the maf so close to the throttle body has anything to do with it. Maybe it’s shaking too much at idle to get a good reading? Anyways I’m reconfiguring all my piping when I get the srt4 ic. After that I’m gonna go to autodream and get them to tune my ecu, then I’ll dyno. Although I am in trying to find a t28 and don’t really have the money for a new disco potato(but wish I did).
I’ve heard of turbulance screwing up MAFs before, although it resulted in erratic engine operation, not a code.
Good luck,
Dan
Here’s a vid from the May 7th event that we had, unfortunately I did pretty bad, my front tires were losing traction to much, so for the 28th event I softened up the front struts and let some air out of the tires, it helped alot, it got me 3rd FTD, kehe. Oh and you’ll hear my tranny grind on the last corner(I have a tranny in my shed, just waiting on a clutch).

This is my buddy Mike in his Impulse, he does pretty good, mostly because of his r compounds, but I still keep up to him without me having r’s.

Here is the FTD run from the May 7th event. Dennis is pretty fast in his MR2 turbo, with advan r’s on.

and this is Scott in his s10 with a 350 in it.
Is that on a go-cart track? Looks like fun!
Yup, Lumsden Kart Track, they rent it to us every second week, usually on sundays, but we have a couple events on saturdays. Also we do test and tunes for members only(qcma.org), where we only allow like 10 vehicles to attend, and we basically drive the track and test and tune our cars. We also have a dirt track and circle track at Kings Park Speedway, that we use for some events, and we use Oyama lake for our winter ice races. I am looking at buying a 500 dollar 85 rx7 for dirt and ice racing, kehe.
Thats really sweet, I might have to make the drive out that way sometime to check it out.
