Well myself and Jeff had a bad experience with the new 6 the other nite. Was trying to change the axle lower ball joint would not come off, couldnt get it off if my life depended on it, and the ball joint splitter can testify to this lol, ended up removing the entire upper control arm to change the axle becuz it was the easiest way. Reason I was replacing this was becuz of the knocking that is coming from the from left wheel area and changing the axle did nothing so I believe it is the wheel bearing and can not think of anything else that would knock, the speed of the knock increases with speed. But anyways I’m trying to replace the wheel bearing and the lower ball joint this weekend if I can find the parts tomo but still have the problem with seperating the lower ball joint and getting it out, has anyone ever worked on a 6 before and know how to get the ball joint out or if there is anything special about taking it apart becuz watever myself and jeff were trying would not work.

thanks ahead

and its a 2003 4 cyl 2.3 liter drivers side

dude just hit that shit with a hammer… she will pop out. its just like tie rod end.

i was standing there watching both of them smack the shit out of the thing with a small sledge. needless to say it wasn’t budging at all.

did you ever end up getting the bolt re-threaded?

zoom zoom

put a piece of wood against the end of the threads and hit with sledge? pneumatic seperator would definitely work too.

grind the threads off and drill it out

wrays bad luck strikes again :frowning:

air hammer + pickle fork ftw

im sure you have one jeff, but if not i have one i can lend ya if needed

its all back together… Ford sucks, end of story
