megan ss

You get what you pay for. If you want good quality, get a b&m ss.

why are some people speaking about cutting piece off ure stock one??
no cutting is needed to install this shifter !!!

ask anyone who has felt my megan ss… it is nice and stiff.

What are you talking about?

I personally think the megan is better than the o.b.x

After having both in my car… I have megan now.

How is it better?

The throw is the same, the shifter is an exact copy of the OBX minus the upper collar.

The Megan Shifter has about 2mm of play up and down on it.

Unless Eric got a bad Shifter It did not come with the upper bushing which
he had to cut off his stock one but was too big for the Megan shifter.

I’m going to attempt this install tonight, and we’ll see how well it works.

Does anyon eknow the part number for the bushing? There used to be a post about it but I can’t find it.

DRE

The little bushing for the bottom of the shifter is P# 32861 H7301… Anyone have the part number for that collar?

My fiche is a bit old, but I have it listed as

#32875 - V5002

Control Lever Bushing

hehehe

#48 right?

The feel of ure shifter depends on three things:

  1. what your idea of a good shifter is
  2. the condition of your tranny prior to install
  3. how you install it and if you used a new bushing or not.

Im gonna try and get proper install instructions from megan racing and see what they can do. ttyl

Adam you were asking where the collar is too…?
I was stunned to that it wasn’t included… But I took out the hacksaw, cut a line in the o.e.m collar to take it off the shift rod, then split it and put it in on my megan…

Works like a charm, No play at all.

Okay, this is what the FSM shows, i’m assuming the part in question is the control level bushing. I sthis the only part missing (besides the screws)?

DRE

Yeah DRE and mr200 That’s the part you need.

Thing is, A o.e.m one will not slide on to your megan shifter. its not wide enough. thats why i cut a line in mine, and bent it around the shifter so it fits… now its in and GOOD. Im very happy with this shifter.

i believe the part number for the bushing is 32861-H7301 — $2.28 @ scarborough nissan [Gear shifter spigot bush]

and in case anyone needs to replace the inner boot (mine was ripped) its 32862-V5001 — $9.23 @ scarborough nissan [Gearbox shifter oil boot (lower boot)]

The screws you need to buy are 6MM in diameter, however i cannot verify the length as i have not got a chance to install it yet. i also haven’t found a perfect fitting screw so i may just use a regular slot head with some lock washers.

Bah you gotta buy screws for this shifter too!

Let’s see…

$90.00 - Shifter
$04.00 - Screws
$04.00 - Bushing
$10.00 - Upper Collar
$10.00 - Gas Money

$118.00 - Total for shifter with play

OBX Shifter = $140.00 and no Play… Hmmm

This is almost as bad of a deal as those BOMZ STB’s that didn’t fit…

Wrong.

$90 - Shifter
$3.33 - O.E.M Bushing
$3 - Screws
$0 - Gas money (Delivered)

Total = $96.33 DONE RIGHT AND BETTER THAN OBX
Total of OBX = $140 + Bushing (3.33).

Re-used my collar from o.e.m rod as I explained.
And i DID have an OBX before. This one is better if installed right.

The gas money was factord in for driving to the Nissan dealership
and to the hardware store for the extra needed parts.

Please then explain to me Brandon what I and many others
have done wrong and why when we pull the shifter up and
down it has about 3mm - 5mm of play in it?

FYI the OBX well at least mine came with the little bushing on the end.

So did mine, but if you compare it closely to the o.e.m bushing its thinner, by a couple MM. Take a look, thats why you get the o.e.m bushing, so it fits in the shift linkage correctly without play.

As for the Megan. I had my 3-5mm play too. that was when I didnt put on the collar, the thing would pop out, so I cut a slit in the collar on the o.e.m rod, and put it on the megan. Now i’ve got now play at all, up down or side to side while in gear.

If I had access to my digi right now, Id go do a how-to of it all.

But seriously, I have no up-down play nomore now that the collar is on…
But one thing I found weird, Is that im not even using the 1" tall blue metal ring that came with it, couldnt figure out what it was, And it works amazing without it so… Its staying out… Jantos, Need a cock ring?
