i hear you can use a miata battery mounted sideways in the stock battery tray and it fits perfect. this is so you dont have to relocate your battery when you put a fmic in. does anyone know what year miata battery to use or does it matter?
miatia battery is the same as a civic’s battery…
Take a look at your civic’s battery and see if it will work.
I think it would alex. its a 551R battery, its only about 4" thick. but iuno about the length.
Civics the same, or at least 92-99 AFAIK
civic battery is too long, i tried…
does that mean the miata battery wont work either?

If it’s the same size as a civics it wont, but I never checked, give fresh alloy a search, there are a lot of posts about running a smaller battery.
i did. according to them you can use a miata battery. but if adam says its the same as a civic then theres a little conflict of information.
Ed go pop your neighbours hood for a second and check how big the battery is…
No but Alex go to CTC and ask to to see a Miata Battery and a Civic one from 1992 - 2000…
WestCo. Makes a nice sealed Miata Battery if it fits.
I stand corrected…
Miata Battery Vs. Civic Battery
That Miata battey looks like one from a Snowmobile or My Old Dirtbike…
Yep they are pretty tiny. First time I went to jump a miata at work I was looking for the battery for two mins in the eingine bay… then I realised it’s in the trunk, kinda inside the 1/4 panel.
damn thanks adam. im gonna go pick one up. i hope the battery gives enough juice. i should be ok. car wont be drivin in the winter or anything
