Mid-Engine Corvette C8 2020

GM’s target for its air conditioning system in the Z06 was to enable proper cabin cooling during track use with an ambient temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If that isn’t the most American supercar target to hit, we don’t know what is.

That is such a bizarre target to have.

Why?

Edit:
I guess more specifically, racing on a track and having ac work 100% in 100* weather seems like a decent target to me. If you’re racing on a track that is over 100*, the AC not working 100% or getting some slight power pull seems logical in book.

Otherwise you’ll be sacrificing power weight to have a cooling system that works 100% in what 120* max temps for that 0.0000002% of use in that range.

:gotme: I’d love to have A/C in a track car. I’ve seriously contemplated leaving A/C in for a race build.

Watching those front wheels spin takes me back to 2001 watching Jesse’s Jetta do sick burnouts.

These are really impressive to drive.

I see SO many of these now. They’re getting cheaper and cheaper. And the more I see them the more I dislike them. I’m hoping C7s come down in price as I like their looks better. I’ve given up on the C5, had a change of heart.

Cheapest one I’ve seen so far -

I keep seeing more and more and I like them the more I see them. I rarely use the rear seats in my S5, even with a kid, so I’d seriously consider a trade if I weren’t so in love with my AWD + snowtires in the winter. Yeah, I DD’d the GTO on snows for almost 8 years but now that I’ve lived with quattro for 3 it would be tough going back. And I definitely won’t deal with the BS of a summer and winter car.

My daughter’s violin lesson teacher just got a new Stingray and the last time I picked Jill up she came outside and opened the garage to show it off because she knew I was a car guy. *Note to self, might be paying too much for violin lessons

I think I’ll always have an AWD DD, but I contemplated going back to something more fun for me and then giving the wife whatever AWD vehicle we have.

With my wife and I both needing to get to work even when it snows (looking at you teacher boy where your job get canceled anytime it snows more than 3" or it’s “too cold”) we both need capable daily drivers. Plus I like to head to Ellicottville to ski during travel advisories so it’s not like I could take our one good AWD vehicle and leave her with say a C8 on snows. Heh

I’m still not a fan of the C8 styling, it’s just not working for me, not that I could afford one anyway!
This will be my first winter in 5 years though that I’m not in an AWD vehicle (06 Matrix) so it’ll be a small adjustment getting used to FWD again. I’ll miss the AWD for sure but I won’t miss the sluggish automatic it came with.

67k is a big drop from the 100+ people were asking over summer

awd c8 is on the way…

Hey there was frost on my lawn today, I almost called in!

I think we’re going to keep the Tiguan for a while, it’s low mileage and gets the job done. The Jetta is nice but an S3 or 330xi would be better.

I debated selling the Miata for a C5 last year, but honestly I can’t get over the interior. A C6 is nicer but out of my fun-toy budget.

Every time I see a C8, I just think wow…that’s not a Corvette. It’s cool, but not a Corvette.

Me too. Also one of the reasons I’d consider owning one.

Let’s say there was an awd c8… you should highly consider that option
