Mike's neverending Honduh Del Sol build. Not mobile friendly

that GST motorsports GC8 is amazing!!! It is in atleast one magazine every month…

Awsome car!

any up date? amazing build.

I’ll have some this week. Just need to finish up the recent work and take some pictures.

nice progress.
OT: That HDR Subaru pic is probably one of the only HDR pics I like.

I’m not convinced these look perfect yet, but maybe I’ve been staring at them too long. Plus the toe is way the hell off due to the new trailing arms.

that bastard nutsert that I’m going to have to cut out…

this is probably my favorite build thread on the site

i’m no honda guy, but that car looks awesome. Cleanest honda build ive ever seen

Thanks

I finally cut out and replaced that bad nutsert:

I also need someone to come and take all of my hammers away from me. I’ve done this too many times. Thanks in advance :Idiots

the deep fender looks cool though:

Just found a picture from back in '07 that someone else took and I never saw before. I have no idea where it even is. lol

edit, actually this might be in '08 I’m not sure. It might be at the farmington honda meet.

I’m finally diving back into this with hopes of having it tuned and on the road by the end of april. In the meantime I’ve gotten a new laptop with solidworks '09 and I wanted a small project to test everything out. This should look familiar to.

this one is a little bit higher quality

Got some new parts in from the guys over at Dezod. I’m now trying to figure out the fit and fitment before I do a real mockup and finally fabrication:

The car looked soo mean sitting on the ground.

lol, I know. It put a big smile on my face seeing it sit there like that. Its been up on stands for way too long.

Finally got moved out of the garage I was renting and brought the car over to my house with the help of matt. I still need to organize a bit and have clear out the landlords boxes of junk, but at least now I don’t have to drive 25 minutes away to go work on it.

I also tested out window’s 7 photostitch thing just for the hell of it:

My challenge now is to modify my manifold for the Tial V-band flange. Unfortunately the manifold is positioned in a way that if I put the hot side on the drivers side the compressor housing nearly hits the block. If I put the hot side on the pass. side then the compressor housing nearly hits the radiator. Not a whole lot of room to work with but I really can’t put money towards a new manifold at this point. I would prefer to put the hot side to the pass. side so that the chargepipe and downpipe don’t have to cross over, but then I ran into a new issue of the IC inlet being about 3" higher than the outlet of the compressor housing yet so close to it that any bends would have to be extremely tight. I was thinking of maybe just doing some type of flexible boost hose, but I really have no experience with those.

for reference:

Picked up Newmans used tires today, then took some time to set the ride height, camber, and toe a little bit more properly

I also took a look at my radiator support, I had an issue with it over the winter where while I was lowering the car down to the ground the tow hook slipped off the jack and the lower portion of the radiator support hit it breaking the welds that held it onto the frame rails. I’m thinking now that I’ll simply cut off the bottom half of the support, cap off the frame rails, and weld a tubular support in its place to keep everything solid. This would allow me to put my radiator and IC mounts pretty much where-ever I want which would therefore give me a tighter fit of everything up front and more room for the turbo setup behind it.

Just ideas right now, I’m not set on anything. I might draw it up in solidworks first.

Awesome build, dude!

Thanks.

I realized that my idea for the radiator support is similar to what mark has on his new evo, hopped over to his thread and actually his setup is pretty much exactly what I want.

This type of mounting system would allow some better options for the compressor outlet to IC inlet plumbing, as well as allow me to push/lean the radiator forward affording me more room between the turbo+downpipe and the radiator.

So with that, I began work to remove the radiator support. From the factory 6 bolts and automotive grade adhesive is used to mount the piece. As it turns out, mine had only 1 bolt, and a few small patches of adhesive holding it on.

Great Build!

Are you going to keep the new support removable?
